Creating a choil on the small Sebenza

I've been guilty of saying for quite a while that the two biggests dissapointing areas for me on the small and large Sebenza by Chris Reeves were the position of the thumb stud, which is in the way for the users of an Edge Pro that wish to change the angle of the edge bevel and also the lack of a choil, especially on the small Sebenza. This has always made the knife 'too small' in my hand even though it was the same length closed as others I carried and used just fine. I could never stand that pointed area where my index seems to automatically go to when gripping the folder in use either and when I choked up on the edge as it came from Chris at times it would actually cut my finger just a little if I was not careful.

This choil feature has been made pretty popular by Spyderco and its also one of the really strong points of the Strider SnG and PT among others they make and also a feature of the Hindererer XM18 and something I try to incorporate in my own folders. I've always loved this feature because your index can get a good choke up on the folder for detail work with the tip third of the blade and still be clear of the cutting edge but it also adds the secondary benefit of having the ability to position your index in front of the pivot making it very hard for the blade to close even if the lock were to accidentally defeat in use and although rare to see that in a frame lock if even a worry at all for those type it is something I would love to see used more often in liner locks of all kinds.

I've also been guilty of saying that Chris Reeve needed a model in between the Small and Large Seb because in my opinion, even though I own one of each the small was too small and the large too large.

Today I made my small Sebenza fit better for me with some very simple modifications to it without changing much at all. I can now get the benefit of a choil if I need it in use without getting cut now with my Small Sebenza and although I had to take a very tiny part of the back portion of my cutting edge away to finish it up to my satisfaction its so slight I'll never miss the edge I sacrificed. I'm so happy with it since this knife will definitely see more use now than before that I thought it worth a new thread to show it.

I know it is hard to appreciate the subtle diff shown here, especially since I didn't think to take before shots but boy you really notice it in the hand. All I did was flatten the point on that one area my index always seemed to find on there and also tried to simply mirror image what Chris did with his small wheel attachment behind the choil area by putting that same shape with the 1/2" wheel in the front in conjunction with a slight mod to the edge. Later when I take the knife apart to clean it for its regular maintenance I'll rebead blast it and it will look good as new all matched up again.
