With any steels I have with vanadium 4% or higher (s30v, 20cv, and others), I can use the Spydie UF but *only* in a super limited role to refine an edge. I would not personally use the ceramic for regular apexing/sharpening as part of a progression. For refining, I'm doing a handful (like 5 per side) of super light strokes with knife barely touching the stone. This can either be at the same sharpening angle, or slightly raised to create a micro. Typical Spyderco process is use the 15 dps angles to set your bevels, then put the UF rods in the 20 dps angles and a few light strokes to create your micro-bevels.
