I really like the full sized Rukus 610 from Benchmade. I have one with the plain edge and satin blade. I've modified it with some of the ivory micarta handles, satin finished the liner edges, polished the blade to a more satin finish, polished the ivory micarta till it almost looks like the real thing, and I've cut down the axis bar to be flush with the bolsters.

Last night I placed an order for another Rukus, this time a 610BK, black blade NO serrations, and a set of the Silver Twill G10 handles to put on it. I will probably do the same to it as I've done to my original. Although I'll leave the liner edges black but try to polish the black to a satin finish, if possible. I'll also cut down the axis bar to be flush with the bolsters. I did this originally after reading about the axis bar maybe causing an accidental closure, but after doing it I found I really liked it better and it is no harder to unlock than it originally was.

Anyone else "dressed" up your Rukus by adding the new handles, or by doing other things? If so, lets hear about it and see if you can post pics that is.

Nothing special about my Rukus, just thought you might enjoy the photo.

What did you use to polish the metal on your Rukii?
I hate to copy you but imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Mine won't be exactly like yours because I'm adding CF scales and may not polish the screws.

Ooops, sorry I quoted the pictures.

Beautiful photos! ALL of them, especially Jonnyt16's, ought to be bought by BM for use in their catalog!

I too, am the proud owner of a single Ruki ( :D ). I think after Christmas (since i won;t see it until then!) I'm going to polish it up like Bearcut did his. A charged Muslim wheel on the grinder, do you think?

Goldie was the one who polished his Rucks.

I mistakenly posted the pics again in a quote.
Sorry about that.

hi, finally found where this thread went. i used a buffing wheel on a large grinder with some regular polishing rouge compound, it strips off the black finish pretty well. i also used a moto tool wit the buffing wheel.you can get ryobi polishing compound at home depot for about 3.50 a tube,it works well, too.even though the inside of the liners are still black, its hard to see in there,& it still makes a nice contrast. just takes a little work to strip it off & get a nice mirror polish. hey, no problem if someone copies this. once you do this, though, you wont believe the difference.you;ll be glad you put the work into it.even polishing the axis bar helps, too. i left the spacers black, i was afraid i may not get in every nook & groove, but i;m sure its possible, too.

Thanks Goldie.

I just got my CF scales and posted a pic of my rukus in the Gallery.
I haven't polished the liner yet.
