Creative uses for SAK tools

I've appreciated Victorinox SAKs for quite a few years now, but up until last week I had never heard that the can opener tool was designed to also function as a Phillips screwdriver. How could I not have known this??

So lately I've been getting into the SAK forums and have found some really interesting, creative uses for SAK tools:

CAN OPENER:
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • staple remover
  • turned upside down, can be a hook for picking up hot camping cookware (I used to use my SAK to carve a hook out of wood - this would be SO much easier and stronger!)

CORKSCREW: (from SAKWiki.com)
  • extracting fuel filter when repairing an engine
  • extract the stub of a spent candle from a candle holder
  • extract plug holders from IKEA furniture
  • affix the knife to an overhead beam to hold a mosquito net
  • loosening knots (also included as a tip in Victorinox documentation)
  • remove cotton wads from pill bottles

AWL:
  • wood drill
  • scraper
  • fire-steal striker (maybe not for rear mounted ones)
  • crevass tool

BOTTLE OPENER:
  • light duty pry bar

HOOK:
  • picking up hot camping cookware

SAW:
  • Loose hair remover/brush for dog (hopefully used with care!)

But I'm betting you guys can add more to this list! Please educate me: What other creative uses do you have for your SAK tools?

The toothpick is my go-to knife cleaner for digging out lint in all sorts of nooks and crannies. You can also use the main blade as a mirror. I squared up the back of my combo tool to strike fire steel.

I love pistachio nuts. You know when you those nuts that just have a tiny gap, but you can't get them open with just a thumb nail? I find the Vic can opener with the little screw driver on the tip to be just the thing for opening those hard to deal with pistachio nuts.

Also, when opening cardboard boxes that have those big copper staples in them, the Vic combo tool on a bantam or the Vic can opener makes a good hook to pry up and get under the staples to pull them out.

@Dogstar: Using your toothpick as a crevass tool sounds OK, as long as you don't also use it as a toothpick... :)

@Jackknife: Pistachio nut opener! I Love it! One less dedicated tool Vic will have to make!

As far as modding your knife (like making a firesteel striker out of the can opener), I've used an engraving tool to put small marks every 1/2 inch along the top of the main blade and rear cellidor handle so I can use it as a ruler.

I read that the tip of the nail file on a Cadet can be used as a #1 Phillips screwdriver. Does anyone know if this is true?

A little work with a mill smooth file, and it makes a right nice flat phillips driver.

can opener: pot hook, pulling haybales from the back of the truck, general hook uses...

back edge of saw: scraping firesteel
