I'm thinking of putting one of these credit card sized diamond sharpeners in a survival kit (scroll 2/3rds of the way down the page):

I'm wondering if anyone has experience with one of these, and what grit would likely be most useful. I'm not happy with any of the other "portable" sharpeners I've seen. I use mostly S30V and D2 in the field, as well as EDC.

I got one of these for main reason that it can be brought any where. I got the extra fine as I figured that the only time that I would use it would be for a touch up, rather than re-bevelling, which I would have carried out at home and not in the field.

You have got to be careful with these though, due to its small size, I end up sticking the knife into my finger each time I use mine.

I use a DMT folding diafold in the fine/x-fine but would prefer a x-coarse/x-fine combination.

Thanks for the feedback. I think I'll split the difference and get the fine. It's just for touch ups in the field so I don't need to re-profile. On the other hand, the X-fine might not be able to remove enough quickly enough in a real survival situation where I were using a knife heavily.
