Yangdu asked me to post these pics and to let you all know that they have finally arrived. email Yangdu to get one. HIMIMP@aol.com

History:

This is the original double handled Sirupate used by the Goorkha’s in Battle until the around the 1850’s, the last known one to be made was around 1929, and Tora was the first company to reproduce this amazingly curved kukri for the general market. It was known in the west until recently as a Hanshee, however that has proven to be incorrect, the Nepalese word Kupree is more appropriate. These kukri have to be seen to be believed, they are not only beautiful to look at, but very effective for the job they were designed for.

Looks like they did pretty well with the design. Quite a weapon to be sure.

Thank you for the help, Ted

Wow, those are beautiful! I bet they'd make short work of whatever was in their path:eek:

I am very excited that they want to make the Kupree a part of the HI line, but this prototype needs some adjustments.
The blade should be wider at the sweet spot.
The blade is a circular shape, not a sharp angle (Hence the "crescent moon" name)
The handle should follow the curve of the blade and the knuckle ring seems too low on this model.
Traditional models do not have much flare of the base of the handle and dont have the buttplate. (Although I like having the peened tang)

I hope to see more attempts at this awesome type of khukuri in the future.
