Does the Crewman fit comfortably (no excess stress on snap closures etc.) in the factory sheath with factory Micarta grips ? My BK-5 set up like this is excessively tight. No thanks, I do not wish to sand them down. I like the hand filling grip.

I'm 99% sure that it will be a little bit tight at first but the strap will stretch in a day or less. It's been a while since I have used the factory sheath with any of my micarta handled knives.

Tightly if memory serves. You can do like rkmoore said and just leave it overnight a couple times, it will stretch, or you can heat the strap with a hairdryer to hasten the process.

I snap it on tight, then use a little hairdryer action to let nylon loosen up a bit and leave it over night. Not too much heat, just enough to warm it. To much and the nylon will melt. You gotta keep the heat on it a long time for melting to happen with a regular hairdryer though.
