I got this knife few months ago and was so surprised of its quality that I thought I should write my first review, hope you'll find it interesting.
I'll start with specs:
Close length: 3 5/8" (the perfect size for me). Main blade is 3 1/8" and pen blade is 2 9/16".
Blades type: main - spear point, assistance - pen.
Scales: stag (beautiful IMHO). Not too chunky like some stag handles are, so it sits nicely in the pocket.
Two bolsters each side, both rear ones are stamped AECA inside an oval circle (American Edge Collectors Association).
Blades seem to be carbon steel, main blade has an etch of the AECA, 1 0f 95, knife #9 and the yeae 1985.
Main blade has also Cripple Creek logo stamped. Pen blade is stamped with Cripple Creek and 1985 inside a circle.
The shield is oval with 3 legged bison. nail nicks are strait with match strikes.
The blades has excellent walk and talk, the main blade probably have washers that make the walk very smooth, the pull is 4-5 out of 10, but when open the springs hold the blades tight so the use is secure.
F&F is superb no rough edges, everything is smooth and comfortable. The pattern, eureka jack, which I have never had before, is very appealing and feels good in hand. There is some very thin gap at the back spring.
The knife seems to be mint, if not new, and yet very sharp and ready to use, there are odd scratches on the main blade that came with the knife.
I have read a lot about the quality of pre-1990's cripple Creek folding knives by Bob Cargil but never had the chance to hold one, I had 1995 Barlow which was good quality but not as this one.
This Eureka Jack is the closest to custom made knife that can be.
Thanks for reading
Mike
