I'm new to the forums, so be gentle. I bought this at a gun show a few years back and haven't really used it. I'm just getting into knives now. I did a search and it seems this gentleman mostly made swords back before he retired. Can anybody tell me what I have here? Any idea of steel used? I take it he made high quality items? Thanks in advance.

BTW, I'm absolutely not looking to sell this. I'm just getting interested in knives and am happy to have this be my first custom.

I think he mostly used A2 steel. Regarded as decent no-frills working knives for relatively low cost.

Fishface5 is correct. Probably 90% of Rob's work was in A2. I can't tell the size from your pic, but it looks like maybe it's one of his Sidewinder knives, he made those in several styles with a kydex sheath normally. The style of the Criswell mark indicates that it was made in the latter part of his knife making career.

I was wondering what kind of hidden connection there was from your post to my Criswell knife!!!

That might have been it, if I'd had any before posting. This thread must have been just above (or below) the one I wanted...and I made the mistake of not scrolling up a bit to check.
Apologies again.
