Does anyone have one or handled a Criswell katana?

I don't know a thing about them except they are users and look good. :)

I've handled a few. They seem to be a good buy for the money as long as you are aware of what you are getting. They are made to be used and abused. They are tough and balance out pretty well. They do not handle like a traditional katana nor do they look like one.

I picked one up two years ago at the Blade Show.

It isn't a traditional katana, but it is a quality sword. It has an excellent feel and balance, and it is made to be used. The handle wrapping takes a bit of getting used to compared to a traditionally wrapped handle, but the wrapping is done well.

If you're thinking of getting one, I reccommend it.

Go to this person. He has made scabbards for many, including Criswells.

I have owned about four Criswells myself. NIce blades in the non-traditonal Japanese style. Good value for the money. However, as stated, they don't handle or feel like a traditonal Katana. However, a great sword for the "hack and slash" style of sword play. They are also capable of some very fine "finess work" if practiced with.
