I'm going to assume Criswell blades are gone, is this correct?, anyone taking over? who has a hoard of them? G..

Ars sine scientia nihil est..

I had five of them until I sold them all last year. They were a good value for the money. Too bad he decided to give up on making them. I would have kept them if I thought he was going to stop making them. They were not very well balanced, and had a very crude edge, but the hollow grind was nice, and the tsuba were cool. They were a steal for around $400.00. Nothing even close to a Hartsfield, but at 1/20th the price, they would still do a good slash job.

About that, is there any indication of why he quit producing them?

There was discussion a few years ago that Rob Criswell had developed an injury that hindered his progress in making swords. It was during this phase when we saw a large decrease in his production of the katana.

Most recently the word is that he got married and has taken on a different career path that best benefits him and his new bride.

Hopefully we will se more Criswell blades in the future but for now you will have to find them on the secondary market. (Currently the value if Criswell blades is on the rise due to lack of supply)

I'm pretty much hanging onto my large collection that Win alluded to in an above post to this thread. Of course I concentrated more on the wakizashi sized blades more than anything else.
