So I'm making a bowie knife. I made this design please give me feedback if you think something should be different or if you especially like some aspect. The grind is going to be a sabre grind.
The blade:
thickness is around 0,5cm≈0.2 (freedom)inches
width is around 4-5cm≈1.6-2 inches
length is around 25cm≈9.8 inches

The handle will be Turkish walnut and the spacer will be brass. The guard and pommel will be steel from his old cars leaf spring.
Somethings that I won't change so no need to comment about these.
-one sided guard
-Steel for the pommel
-The use of walnut for the handle

Thanks in advance!

Ditto on the handle and guard. Also, this is just personal preference, but I would bag the saber grind and grind swedges on the clip and also think about run-in the plunge cut parallel to the new, not quite so angled guard.

My thoughts exactly. Also, what Stacy said, about adding some down curve on the handle.

I've done a few angled guards you've drawn.
I'm not doing them any more. They look better on paper then in person and it gives problems grinding the start of the tang.
My advice is to have it straight(90degrees from the spine)

The tang should not be so narrow where it meets the ricasso. This creates a big stress riser right at the blade/handle junction. The tang should be as wide as you can make it where it goes through the guard, and gradually taper down towards the butt.

You're right. I usually do that for my puukko blades but for some reason I forgot to add that in the picture.

Huge thanks to everybody who has helped me. I will make a 2.0 of the design and post it to this thread during the next week.

Thanks to you all !

People have already mentioned straightening out the guard. In addition to how it looks, that sharp angle at the transition of handle to the underside of the guard would pinch the finger. Straightening it out will facilitate making that transition comfortable for the hand to be snug up against the guard!!
