Delicas SE and PE
Calypso jr. SE

Kershaw scallion

Benchmade 806 D2

Emerson CQC-7 (EDC)
Cold steel Recon 1 Old style made in Japan
Prolite drop point
Urban pal

Wenger SAK model???? has wood saw and siscorrs (sp.)

Bear mgc Butterfly for cuts and giggles

Becker BK-7

Gerber Gator drop point fixed

modified cold steel trail hawk (primitive makeover) and frontier hawk

A kit knife with hand made handle and sheath (primitive makeover)

Thats about it. looking back on it I guess I have a little collection of working knives. The other day I added up all I had spent over the past year and There was way more than enough to have bought a sebenza and a dave Beck WSK. Sort of puts it all in a new light. If I had saved all the money I couldve had two of the finest knives on my list of "wants", but then I wouldnt have all the shiney toys.

What do you all think..... have I done O.K. thus far? :)

If you like them, that is all that matters. Just be glad you haven't gotten HIKV (Himalayan Imports Khukuri Virus), or you would be screwed.

For future reference, don't add up what you have in knives, nothing but depressing! :grumpy:
Sounds like you may have caught the bug.
Which I may add, there is no return.
Good luck with your collection.

it's pretty impressive compared to my collection:
CRKT M16-03 (6A, PE)
Spyderco Cricket (ATS55, SE)
Camillus Mini-CUDA (154CM, PE)
Spyderco Calypso Jr (VG10, PE)
Benchmade Nimravus 140 (154CM, CE)
Camillus Arclite (D2, PE)
Spyderco Dodo (S30V, PE)
Kabar/Dozier Thumb Notch Folder (8A, PE)
Becker Necker (0170-6C, PE)

you've definitely got me in the diversity department. :)
you've inspired me to add some bigger blades to my wanted list!

Some things on my want list

Beck WSK on the waiting list

BM RSK grippy S30V with awesome blade

SRKW howling rat I think (to replace the gator as my go to fixed blade for outdoors) Im wanting a more blade heavy 4 or 5 inch blade so it can chop a bit if needed. I brought home a piece of yellow poplar that was about 2 1/2 thick that I had to chop with the gator it was not horrible as the blessed thing is SHARP but it seems a knife with a bit more heft to the blade might be a bit more........comforting ......in an emergency. Its lightness make it nice for backpacking however.

Maybe some more Benchmades!!! Like the TSEK in 440C would be nice I think. And I think I heard Spyderco was gonna have a drop point chinook come out in the future. If its in S30V,(or maybe anything else) that will probably replace my prolite as my skinning knife.

Also Ive wanted a EKI CQC-7 A-blade ever since I got my standard one. The chisel tanto is great but Id like to have both. Lots of people seem to not like the chisel grind for EDC but I work in construction and do a lot of wood working with it at home and its absolutely fabulous for that stuff!

Hey blinded! How has that M-16 treated you? I have one of those also but its in the trade fodder bin now. I EDC'ed it at work for quite awhile, in my work that is harsh on any knife, and it did great. Right up to where it bit me. Of course I was trying to pry a roofing nail out of a signboard with it. turns out the liner had been kinda taking a set or something, as you coul defeat the lock by closing the blade with your hands. I took it apart and put a little extra tension on the lock and now it locks up tight. Check yours every once in a while if you use it hard!

I got my Calypso Jr. SE in a trade deal and dont use it. Its a cool little knife and if I had a PE like yours Id probly put it into rotation.

The becker necker looks cool too. D  osnt being broke suck!!!! If I won the lottery I would have to build a garage just to house all the blades and gadgets I would buy!

Just one criticism.....

You don't have enough :p

No critisisms and I wouldn't call it meager either. If you like them, that's all that matters. If you get tired of any one of them, trade it, sell it, or give it to one of your buddies. It'll make his day and you'll feel good about it too. Maybe even start him down the road to ruin. :D One thing you might want to look into at this point is a custom. Now don't think that because it's a custom that it's going to cost you 600 or more. Sure, you can EASILY spend that, but if you keep your eyes open, read the magazines and for sale boards, you can find some in the 200 range.

Happy collecting,
John...

Don't knock the Bear MGC butterfly knives. I have both sizes of the black handle models. They're not bad for $15 and $20 knives. ;)

missing from your collection: Old quality knives. Give yourself a real treat; a Cattaraugus whittler, a Case Muskrat, a George Schrade presto. Even a repro Remington baby bullet. Knives with class and soul. Live a little.

I got a few knives new and used.
What I think IMHO ..
I buy knives I want. For example I have a few slipjoints, my kids think they are the dumbest and uglyest knives. I love em, I'm a old fart and I grew up on them. My kids they carry Benchmade's , Smiths , Spydercos , Kershaws, all of them "TAC" looking, one handers, pocketclips etc.
Right now I got a Trapper in my pocket, ( I do have a Native III, and a Kershaw leek in my briefcase )
A while ago I bought some used Westerns USA made in Boulder and Loveland Co. Fixed blades , they show some wear BUT I wanted them , They are part of my pride and joy.
well I think you get my thoughts
Good knife hunting

Jack

Does it make ya happy?

Then who cares what anyone else thinks.

More than 2 makes a collection.

You have a very nice collection of knives with some outstanding name brands...Spyderco, Kershaw, Benchmade, etc.,.

I got caught up in trying to buy very expensive custom knives thinking this will seperate me from the average collector. This is BS thinking.

First of all, when you spend a grand or two or three for one knife, if your like me, you really can't enjoy them the way I think a knife should be enjoyed. I only take custom knives out to look at or show friends. Not much fun when you boil it down.

On the other hand, I really enjoy carrying and using the lesser expensive, high quality production knives I have acquired. These knives are much more enjoyable for me to own than the expensive custom knives I own that I refuse to use because I'm concerned about getting them scratched or dirty.

A lot of people do use their custom knives as edc's
but I wouldn't and that's just me trying to preserve their original value which, again, isn't much fun.

What... a Spyderco Endura costs $50-60 bucks or a Military for $100?
How can you go wrong with that?

Edited To Add:
I just orderd two Griptilians...one grey and the other olive drab.

the M16 has held up beautifully. i have the version with the aluminum scales, and it's super-tough. i've only put it thru real rough use, maybe twice. most of the time it rides in my backpack. i've got a sentimental connection to it since it's my first quality knife, and the knife i learned to sharpen on.

how long did you have yours b4 you noticed lock-up problems?

as for the Calypso Jr, if you had the PE version, you would absolutely have to put it into rotation. it's the best slicer ever. not to mention it has one of the most precisely cutting tips available. you can't go wrong for a lighter-use knife for the price.

and the Becker Necker is just awesome. i've been meaning to cord-wrap the handle tho (i guess i need'ta order the paracord first, duhhrrr). when you drop it, it sounds like a damn rail-road spike! it's tough! i've used it for prying and batonning, and it works great. haven't done much cutting yet, aside from food, due to putting off the cord-wrap.

and here's some news for you. here are the deals i got on my knives:
CRKT M16-03 - traded an Arc LSL 2nd for it
Spyderco Cricket - $20 from a CPF member
Camillus Mini-CUDA - $50 from a CPF member
Spyderco Calypso Jr - $40 from a CPF member
Benchmade Nimravus 140 - $45 from a BF member
Camillus Arclite - $40 from a CPF member
Spyderco Dodo - $60 from a CPF member
Kabar/Dozier Thumb Notch Folder - $20 from AG Russell
Becker Necker - $15 from a CPF member

these knives were all in perfect functioning order. and all except the Cricket and Becker Necker were new and unused. the generosity of Knife Knuts and Flashaholics reaches far and wide. :D keep your eyes peeled for deals!
