The last few days I've managed to get out in the swamp and down to the cape for some fishing. I posted the fish pics in the new appropriate forum, but thought I'd share some various animal pics I snapped in the last couple of days.

Some great pics there buddy, thanks for showing them !

Love the look of that Barkie, how ya liking it so far ?

That little hammerhead is really cool. Glad you were able to release him/her. Neat looking. Great pics, as always.

I may be wrong, but I think that's a bonett head shark. Nonetheless it's a cool looking shark. I've caught plenty of shark off the beach that size and they are fun, fun, fun to catch.

Great pics!

I think you're right. I thought it was a little hammer head too. Looking at my own pic now, it does appear to be a bonnet head, or "shovel head.". Hammer heads have a straighter "face." Either way it is a cool little fish.

I'm digging it Pit. With the handle scales on, it's fairly comfortable during extended use, especially considering it's size. I've cleaned several messes of fish, shaved a lot of lightard (fatwood), and used it as my primary knife on a couple of overnighters where it did kitchen duty and other around camp services. Hit it with the strop to bring back the edge, and that's been it for maintenance. I cleaned a little surface rust off the Leatherman yesterday, as I've been down around the saltwater a lot. The Barkie didn't even have a spot. I've got a kydex neck sheath and a leather belt sheath for it too. With the scales off and in the kydex, it weighs nothing, well almost nothing.

I think a Bonnet Head is a little Hammerhead. Same Genus anyway. According to Wiki it is the smallest of the hammerheads growing only to about 3 & 1/2 feet. Either way that is a cool little fish. You're a lucky man.
