Crk balisong?

Sounds really farfetched, but I think it'd be awesome, and I know it would sell. My reasonin behind this idea is that crk has already worked with the majority of components (bushings, titanium) that make a good Bali, along with their drive to create a superior product. Plus with the limited line of balis out there, I think it'd be a great addition. What do you all think? Great idea? Bad idea?

didn’t the USA pass a law saying no more importing them here?? didn’t spiderco get ding for $400,000.00 for getting caught bring them in the USA??? CRK is a twain base company right??

my bad. I was told they where base out in twain. then they could make them and I think they would very good peace to have.

Anytime I have spoken to Chris, he has stated he is about making something New, not doing what has already been done. Plus, I dont see CRK making knives that are illegal in many places in the US. From what I understand, here in PA, I am not even allowed to carry one. What good is any knife if I cant carry it....??? I dont need safe queen eye candy.....!!!

There's places where the large seb and umnum are illegal. Then there's NYC (where balis aren't illegal). I use my balisongs, not as much but every now and then. Mostly, they're for flipping though.

You are not allowed to carry butterfly knives in Oregon--and we have some of the most lenient knife laws in the country.

I would be interested if they made one because I bet it would be amazing.
However, I don't see it happening.

A CRK collaboration designed by CRK and made by another company would be more reasonable but even then farfetched like you said.

You can't even carry them in GA, not that I would anyway.

I don't know anyone myself that would want a balisong, so I don't see it ever happening.

I can carry a Bali-Song here in Taiwan and have tried but they are just not that handy a knife, especially when you're used to a fixed blade or regular folder. I'm sure a good, custom maker's design made by CRK in some sort of production collaboration would be a fantastic knife, but a knife I would have little interest in out side of a collection. As mentioned it's a direction CRK are very unlikely to go and not really something that their customer base is crying for.

I don't hate Bali-Songs and own a few, I just don't find them particularly useable. I have a mate over here that is Bali-Song bonkers, he carries a Bali as an EDC and has done for as long as I have known him. He is very fast and can deploy the knife in a number of "standard paterns" to geat effect, those have been practiced and honed for years though. This is the main reason I'm not a big fan, there is just a bit too much manipulation in even the simplest deploys for a Bali to be a practical EDC in my opinion. I know many people do and are quite happy carrying one but they must cut much less stuff than I do, I was ready to launch the thing after just a couple of days. :p

I was trying to fight insomnia by looking through some of the old posts. When I came across the following post, it reminded me of this thread:

.....I know there have been a few of our folding knives that have been modified into automatics. Two are mentioned here, but I believe there have been others. I want to state very adamantly that, as a company, we disassociate ourselves completely from these knives. We have never made automatics and will not do so for a very specific set of reasons. Automatics are illegal in the majority of states and under a wide variety of circumstances; the shipping of these knives is restricted by a slew of postal regulations; our industry is under enough threat already and I will not be party to giving the anti-knife lobbyists any further ammunition. The recent attempt to reclassify one hand opening knives as assisted opening, and the issues facing retail stores in New York at the moment are graphic illustrations of the threat to our industry.

These modifications to our knives bring them into the automatic category and I cannot state strongly enough that, not only are these knives out of warranty, we will not service them in any way. We simply will not accept such a knife in our shop. ......

Chris

He is speaking about auto knives but his line of thought and his concerns would clearly apply to balisongs as well.

I personally am a big balisong fan but for flipping/collecting, not EDC.
