On CRK's website if you want to request a replacement blade I see they have a note that they don't guarantee what steel (SVN45 vs Magnacut) they will replace your blade because they don't know what will be available at the time. Which is understandable and I can see for someone whose in a hurry or has a broken blade, but has anyone asked them or tried to specify getting a Magnacut replacement as an upgrade and not in a hurry? Seems like a pretty fair price to jump from 58 RC s35 to Magnacut at 63-64 RC, but I would not be pleased to wait a year for the replacement only to find out they used s45

I had my Umnumzaan done. I ordered the blade in Jan of 2023, sent it in first week of November ,2024and got it back middle of December 2024.
When i ordered it, the steel offered was S45VN. When i sent it in, i was told it was going to be MagnaCut. I would reasonably guess all of the reblades would now be in MC.
An Email to them would answer those questions. They have always been pretty quick to respond.

I think their website is out of date. I got two new blades on large 21 insingos. When you request the work you specify a Magnacut blade and that is what you get. Call CRK and talk to them. My turn around time was 6-8 weeks once they received the knife. They are great to work with. Read the below thread:

Just to add to what jjg6319 jjg6319 said.....call them and tell them you'd like to order a replacement blade (in whatever configuration you need). They will get the details of your knife from you (small, large, DP, Insingo, thumb stud color, etc). The lead time for a replacement insingo in Magnacut for a Small Sebenza 21, for example, is 9-12 months. I suppose for the 31's it might be shorter since they probably have more of those on hand. They told me not to send my knife to them until I get a call that the new blade is ready. At that point, it's just a matter of sending it in for the new blade to be fitted to the knife.
I saw the same thing on their website that the OP did. The important thing is to contact them first. They are great to deal with and will walk you through it.

I think they've long since used up their stock of earlier steels, with the exception of a few Regular blade held for warranty work.

I would view it more as a go forward disclaimer. You won't get S45VN but if they happen to switch from Magnacut in the next 9-12 months you may get that steel.
