Seen a few of these for sale recently and was wondering if anyone owned one and what they thought of them. It's tempting to purchase as these seem pretty rare and look beautiful. Any thoughts or pics are welcomed and appreciated.

Thanks

I've always wanted to know about those too. I've wondered about those holes in the ball at the end, and what that's all about.

If I recall correctly, the knobs on those canes were made as titanium replacement hip joints. Mr. Reeve got his hands on some defective ones that could not be used medically and he used them for the canes. The first cane was made for his father and he later made and sold some more. He stopped making them a good while ago.
These facts (?) are based on my old failing memory so take them with a grain of salt.

check out the cane pictured on facebook crk fanpage that features a q ball as the head instead of the titanium ball. I believe it's for sale also......

Some of the handles were also hand turned wood, and I have seen a few with a titanium shaft used as part of the stick.

Back in the day, I actually had one on order and my name was on the list and was due to be the next one made when they stopped making them. So I never got it. Hurt my feelings and broke my heart at the same time. :D

I have only seen them in pictures. They look great and would love to have one. PurpleHaze I thought you need money for Karate lessons, how can you afford a canes?

Ok so that explains the strange holes and what-not all over that sphere. I get it now. I thought it was the most futuristic walking stick ever, but now I realize it's a fancy way to move some scrap metal! :D

All kidding aside....totally creative and awesome idea!

The karate lessons weren't panning out, need to more on to more desperate measures.

Do you mean walking sticks? Canes are shorter. I haven't seen any canes yet.

I had thought they were walking sticks as well, but the dealer that has them listed for sale has them listed as canes so I went with that.

Thanks for the info all. I thought I had read that they were hip replacement balls but couldn't find the post I had read that in and didn't want to throw out misinformation. I haven't seen these in person but they are stunning in pictures and would seem to be a great heirloom piece.

I stole this one from Lisa recently. Not long after receiving it I sent an email to Anne Reeve. She called me the next day. According to Anne Chris only made approximately 200 max from 1999 up thru 2003. There will never be anymore made (although he has, on a rare occasion, made one for a friend or two). Each one was unique and although there were some made fancier than others there were only limited numbers made with different wood. There were only three of the Rosewood(?) with ivory inlay made and, if you ever see them come up for sale, go for $2500.00 or more (the last time Anne saw one of the inlayed examples come up was five years ago). I saw one of the fancier ones go for almost $1500.00 approx. 5 to 6 years ago. I make full length Hickory walking staffs for martial arts and self protection for friends from time to time and I've been wanting one of these since Chris made the first one. They were made for that same purpose in mind according to Anne (self protection) due to the unrest in South Africa at the time. He had his father in mind when out on the street walking. And they are actually a cane. Congratulations Lisa! I see you were able to grab one of the few ivory handled canes made.
