CRK centering

Hi blade forums. Just took the plunge and ordered my first sabenza. Anyway, I received it tonight and noticed the centering is a hair off center. I'm new to CRKs so wanted to check with the experts to see if this is within spec or should the blade be dead perfectly center??

Hello and welcome to Bladeforums :)

What you are seeing could be a combination of things in respect to blade centering..

Tolerance stacking between the pivot components.
Needs to be cleaned and reassembled
Use it and cycle it for a week or two,..Take it down, clean, lube and reassemble.

Welcome to BFC Jastone, enjoy your stay!!!!!!
I must be getting old, that's so close to center to me, I wouldn't notice it.
Some have been slightly off like yours, it's not real common nor unusual.
I'd follow bhyde's advice and see what happens in a couple of weeks, he might know a thing or two about CRK.

Appreciate the help guys and thanks for the welcome. I'll hold off on calling CRK for now and see how it looks after a week or two of use. I've already taken it down, cleaned, and lubed it so I know that's not the issue-- the centering is exactly the same before/after I took it apart

Try loosening the pivot, stop and back spacer screws a couple of turns, open the knife firmly then tighten all the screws down. This has perfectly centred my Sebbies that have favoured the lock side so might be worth a go.

Yeah, I'd say that is pretty darn perfect. If anything, it looks like the grind might be just ever slightly off center right at the tip. Wouldn't affect your function at all, but the blade itself looks very centered

Looks fine to me but then again I'm not overly concerned with blade centering unless it's hitting the scale.

If you bought it to admire, you might have a problem. If you bought it to use, it's perfect. Most things I own I really hate the first scratch (ding, dent, imperfection.) But after that first hit I use the heck out of it and just don't worry about it. It's kind of freeing to have it out of the way and use whatever I bought as intended. I would use the heck out of it. Its only fail is as a safe queen.

Hi Jastone,

My Sebenza was ever-so-slightly off-center when new, even after disassembly and cleaning. On the advice of another thread here on BF that I can't seem to find, I had success getting the blade spot-on by loosening all the screws and then retightening beginning with the pivot and working back to the end of the handle. When I cinched down the final screw, the blade eased over that last little bit to dead center and has stayed that way for many months. YMMV.

how does it look when it's opened fully? Is the blade straight and in line with the handle?
I'm curious to know

If the blade in the OP is off center enough to cause concern I certainly don't have any words that can alleviate said concern as the person concerned must not have much else to concern himself with. :D

In summary, looks great to me. Just wait until you get a few snail trails on it.

Ha-ha, what he said. [emoji106] knife looks great to me

Flip the bushing and see what happens. Worst case you switch it back.
That worked for me.

I'd guess that's within acceptable limits. All of mine are off, if you have a micrometer to measure.

I'm way too picky about everything, knives included. I've been able to get all my CRKs perfectly centered, and only one of the 10 was off to begin with.

On the one, I centered it by trying different combinations of flipping the fasteners around until it was spot-on. And it has not moved again in over two years.

So try that, it might work for you like it did me.
