Went to my normal online sites and they have plenty of these but no normal Sabenzas or other regular type CRK's. Personally I think they are tacky even if his wife designed them. I choose not to pay $400-500 for tacky. Am I missing something here ?

The plains are the cheapest way to get on the CRK bus. But many people buy the unique models. Just look at the CK forum, as many people post them.

Lisa does most of them and she is not his wife. Yes you seem to be missing something. I think you are confusing CGG with unique. There is a difference in price and design.
And the inlays also seem to be extremely popular.
As long as your willing to beat on it and use it like it is intended. They are worth it. I dont care for most uniques. But I found one that stood out. And boy I have never seen one that is even close to resembling it.

Some of the CGGs and UGs are pretty interesting, but a lot of them are:
- Very similar looking (oh boy, an inset stone with anodized lines near it)
- Marketed towards the kind of person who generally wouldn't carry a Sebenza (tanked, riddled)
- So ornate or interesting that you would never carry them, negating the point of making a folding pocket knife. A cutting tool that should be placed in a pocket via the clip so it can be used to cut things. How well made it is no longer matters if all it does is rot in a safe or a display.

I feel like the inlays are where its at. I want a raindrop damascus large insingo with bloodwood inlays. That's my grail. A grail that does not and probably will not exist.

I don't know... Personally, it depends on the artwork on it. Most of the lines and gemstones, no thanks. Though give me an Elk Mountain any day and it would see daily carry from that day forward.

If they are yours and want me to remove then, let me know.

I generally don't care for Sebenzas but I do think that the unique graphic editions are tasteful and well-executed, and suit the Sebenza's design.

Op got his facts wrong and hated on a knifemakers wife. Great start for the day. :)

That said, I feel there are too many Lisa designs being made. But design is subjective. I also don't like all the designs but I do like some of them.

The CGGs or thr UGs are not supposed to be more popular than the standard models. The graphics are going to mean something different to everybody. Some people are going to really identify with a particular design some people will think nothing of it. I'm pretty sure they know that by adding these graphics they're reducing overall/general appeal for a particular knife but at the same time they're increasing the appeal for somebody out there. I think it's cool that they do this. I seen some really beautiful specimens but have yet to land one. CRK is at the top of my list as far as favorite knife maker so I'm sure I'll end up with one eventually.

This is going a little of topic, but I too sometimes question what CRK decided to do, and what not to.

For me it's mainly the release of Damascus blades for the 25 but no Damascus Insingo. Am I wrong I'm thinking that Damascus Insingo's would sell like hotcakes?

I placed an order for a small seb with Micarta and ladder Damascus and will be waiting a year for it. Yet as OP points out the cgg and unique graphics are in stock all over.

I'm sure you could give them a call and get first hand information instead of speculation. I think CRK would know better than anyone else their production schedule and the number of knives that are produced with each run.

Thanks for the input.Thought I read somewhere his wife designed the graphics. Love the inlays and wood work. Still think the computer generated designs are tacky :)

Its like a lot of makeup on a pretty girl .
It detracts from the simple beauty .
Simplicity is the essence of style .

I've had a fair number of CRK's, and I think that the nice wood inlays are the prettiest.
But I still prefer to carry the plain titanium slabs, after trying out perhaps twenty or so different Sebbies. They are thinner at around 0.460" in the grip, and that's important to me.
