CRK Customer Service - in the future?

I love CRK's customer service - had to use it about 3 times, and each time they were so courteous, and wonderful and prompt work. That is how business should be done!

After trying out Striders, Hinderers, other makers (even customs), I keep coming back to CRK's. So I have a few and a few more on the way hopefully =)

I EDC and use an Umnum and a 21 with Blooodwood Inlays. I want to even use my Mammoth Bark lg. 21 - but, my only fear is, I want to be able to enjoy these knives til I'm old and gray, and then my sons to use them. Right now CRK Customer service is fantastic! But, I was wondering if Chris / Anne had succession plans, what the customer service or future of the company even, looks like a few or several decades from now?

=)

I was recently told by a crk dealers that the company has been for sale for 10 million for some time now. no takers to date............

I know Chris's son is involved with the company and does the webpage, but not sure if he is the metal guru his father is. I have enough to last me several lifetimes, so know I am covered either way.

I find it hard to believe that its been for sale for that low of a price. Heck a football player makes that in a year, so I honestly find that hard to believe.

nyefmaker-I was hoping you would buy it and bring back the Regular :)

If by chance it is for sale, I would love to see it taken over by the employees-just my thoughts

Myself-I would only be about $9,999,000 short. Do they have an easy payment plan? :)

No one has a crystal ball, and personally I think it's maybe just a little in poor taste to be discussing a man's death when he's till alive and kicking. I wish Chris Reeve and family the best in whatever they do. If the man wants a break from running a company, lord knows it's well deserved at this point.

Regardless of the fate of the Reeve's themselves and their involvement in the company they started, there is nothing preventing the company from carrying on if there is demand for the type of product they make and the level of service they offer. For example, in my early career I worked for a company called Elliot and Garfield. The company was well loved and respected, although no Elliot or Garfield was working there. They had sold it decades before I got my job there. Obviously the era when Chris was at the helm of CRK will be a special era, but does anyone shy away from buying an F150 because the Ford family is not involved?

As of a few years ago, the Ford family was still in control of the company. They only have about 5% of the stock but they control a 40% voting block.

I wouldn't worry about the future of CRK. Chris is not just going to let his company go to hell even if he sells it or gives control to his family.
As it stands now, I don't think he is going anywhere for the time being

Well, I hope they do sell it, but to the perfect candidate.
They have done amazing things and I think they deserve to retire. But I am sure they would still stay involved until their last days. It is in their blood.

Benchmade buys them and finds a way to put an axis lock in every model. Yes you heard it here, the first axis locking framelock knife.

In all seriousness, I don't think there's much to worry about regarding their future.

Please add a spider-hole and Emerson wave to that CRKB axis lock / frame lock and I'll take a dozen. Just don't add a flipper, cause that would be tacky. Will it come left handed?

STOP IT GUYS! I hate axis lock. Besides that would go against the whole design principal of a sebenza that is a knife and nothing else. I guess I don't see the point of this thread. Let's just relax and quit worrying because I have all faith in Chris and his plan for the future of his company.

I'll stir the pot. If the company sells or management changes (this is likely to happen in most of our lifetimes) who is going to be designing the knives? That is my only question. The thought that we will someday no longer have Mr. Reeves dreaming up something awesome is a little distressing to me. Hell, everybody deserves a comfortable retirement though. Hope he has a protege in hiding for our sakes!

1st my hope would be that if Mr. Reeve sold the Co. he would stay on in a consulting capacity. Hope the crew stays on also. This to me would be a very smart move unless the buyer just planned to live off the CRK name and I don't think Chris would find that too appealing.

But if not there are other designers that may build on his work, for better or worse. Since the knife I love is already designed(Sebenza 21) I do not worry about new designs, but maintaining the old one.

I will be honest, I have thought of this same question before.

We all know Mr. Reeve is VERY proud of his work. If he wasn't, he would not always strive to make the perfect knife or win so many awards. He knows he has become iconic in his lifetime. I am certain he will not let his legacy fade. At least, that is what I hope.
