I was recently lucky enough to obtain this beautiful one of a kind CR cutlery set. It was made for a friend of Chris's and also starred in "Knives illustrated" Spring 1989. (Last but 1 pic)
Made from 440C stainless steel with Whale ivory handles and bead blasted titanium fittings. My crappy pictures truly don't do this sublime set justice.

Yes, you are lucky to have obtained a set like this.

Congrats, and thanks for sharing the pics.

How do these gorgeous objects fit into the CRK timeline?? So awesome. Love the bead blasted pommells and the shape in general.

Was there some golden age of CRK where all these things were produced (canes, wood handled skinning knives, cutlery sets, etc, etc) that has passed, or does CRK still produce the odd amazing art piece? It seems to be very much a production oriented company now, but clearly this cutlery set was not a mass-produced item.

Thoughts anyone?

Absolutely incredible acquisition!!! You have something that is 1 of a kind from the Man himself. That is beyond cool my friend.

And thank you for sharing with us who would have never known.

Very cool, indeed. I'll pop round for dinner next time Im back home. :p:thumbup:

Wow....now that is a find! My wife has china that we can't eat on, those would go perfectly beside those dishes in the cabinet!!

WOW.....Thanks for sharing. Talk about a grail or grails in this case if there ever was one. Definitely unique and one of a kind. Really Cool.

Thanks for all the positive comments, glad I'm not the only fan of the early hand made stuff!

These early items that I collect were made in South Africa when Chris just getting going. TBH I think he was a highly skilled and motivated guy seeing what he could do, how far he could push the boundaries. Early to mid 80s generally although one of the sticks I have was I believe far more recent. The pictures I took of an early catalog give some insight to his work and philosophy. The design and execution of the "clog" style sheath with its internal retainer is fantastic. I've got more pics from the catalog on an old lap top that I'll fire up tomorrow.

Thanks so much Nick! Exactly the info I was asking after. If you find the time to post any more catalogue pages, I'll be drooling over those as well.

A few random pics...... My current collection.

An incoming Ulu....

Couple more from the catalog...

These are just random pics I've saved over the years....
