I just received my new to me Mnandi with its Damascus blade. In looking at the blade work it is a true wonder IMO.
This an excerpt from the thread here "Damascus Mnandi through the years" The billet is drawn out and folded until the desired number of layers are formed. In order to attain a Master Smith rating with the American Bladesmith Society that Moran founded, the smith must forge a damascus blade with a minimum of 300 layers. (Source Wikipedia)
So what that says above is that 300 layers to get the Bladesmith rating as a master smith as they must fold layers a minimum of 300 times.
In reference to a CRK blade, do you think CRK's Damascus blades are folded 300 times or was that just for a master smith ranking?
Its a pretty small blade . . . just curiuos.
Thx
