I just picked up a small classic bocote wood sebenza today. So I gathered them all up for a family portrait.

Nice! I was wondering who picked that Bocote from TNK. Great score. Had my eye on her too. Great collection you have going.

Very nice! Something for me to look forward to. :) I also have a Bocote Sebenza, and I think it creates one of the best looking contrasts with Ti. handle.

Very nice!! One of these days, I'll get the time to post mine. Many of you will recognize some of them!

I've never been bashful about looking stupid so I'll go ahead and ask. Are there three different sizes of Sebenza?

Good question! I was wondering the same thing because I'd always thought there were only two - small and large.

The smallest sebenza-looking kinfe in the family photo is, I beleve, an Umfaan. Could be wrong though.

The Mellow One is correct. He has seen it in the flesh. He is Sebenanista but he is also a sub-species of Sebenanista, An Umfaanist.
The interesting thing is that the basic large and small are plain with no decorations. Decorations were an add-on. The basic Umfaan was decorated and the plain one was a special order. Just in case you were wondering, the Umfaan is no longer in production.

Thomason, what's the dagger, was that a custom job, or is it just a model that they no longer offer. I really like the looks of it, whatever it is.

It was named Kathathu (Zulu for "three times"). The blade is triple ground. It was limited production. Mine has the four inch blade. I posted in "Want to Buy" forum and forum member tallpaul was able to help me out.

I found the pamphlet that came with my knife that was made in August of 2001.

"The concept of a triple grind is one not often seen. Sometimes swords will feature a narrow groove down the center of the blade, but evenly space "columns" on knives are not common. The Kathathu combines Chris Reeve Knives' tried and tested one-piece concept with a triple grind blade.

The Katathu is a limited edition collectible. During 2000, 50 9 inch Kathathus were ground by Scott Cook and in early 2001, he ground 66 of the 5 1/2 inch version.

To complete the collection, 100 each in 7 1/2 inch and 4 inch blade lengths, will be ground by Chris Reeve."

Thomason, cool thanks for the info. I forgot to add in my last post, that's one heck of a nice collection you have there. I used to have an Aviator and Project One and really love the one piece series.
