CRK Grease, Just cleaned my Insingo

After using my Insingo for the last couple weeks i figured it was about time to clean the knife. I took it apart, only managed to drop one screw on the floor, and wiped everything down with alcohol swabs to take off any dirt and the old lubricant. I relubed everything with the CRK flourinated grease, i probably used a bit too much as it's my first time with the product. after re-assembling my knife i was amazed at the difference. I thought it was pretty smooth out of the box but this is amazing. the action is fantastic now. Good job CRK on this lubricant!

also a question, is the CRK grease also a blade protectant like an oil would be or do i still need to coat the blade in a separate oil?
 
I own a tuf cloth, i use it to clean my other knives. I generally don't coat my blades in anything unless i'm storing them. I'll save the grease to lubricate and use the tufcloth on the blade if i want to store my Insingo.
 
It depends on circumstances.
You need stronger stuff in a marine environment.
If food prep is something you want to do you need to get something non-toxic.
 
I just cleaned and re-lubed my small Insingo as well. Unlike yours, mine definitely needed it. It was very stiff and 'slow' out of the box that it almost felt like something was grinding inside. It was obviously beyond just needing to be broken in. Upon cracking it open I found there to be almost no lube in the spots that need it, like under the washers, and too much lube in spots that don't need it, like in the pivot bushing and even on the edges of the tang.

After cleaning it up I sparingly put on some non-CRK teflon lube, as everyone is always saying less is more. Not the case here, or maybe the type of lube was the problem because after putting it together it was just as bad as before. So I broke it down again and drenched that mother with CRK fluorinated grease and now it feels like a Sebenza should.:)
 
CRK grease is definitely something special. It's positively amazing how glassy-smooth opening a Seb can feel once I do some maintenance. Bit on the expensive side, but probably worth it.
 
I use nothing but the chris reeve grease, the grease last longer than oils and easy to apply. If you are willing to fork out the cash for chris reeves fine knives, than 15.00 a tube will last long, small price to pay to keep your knife in perfect order.
