Okay guys, I think it's time for me to put away for a few months and finally get me one of those knives that I've always drooled over and just last year could never imagine spending the money on them. I can get a new xm18 3.5 at $385 or I could spend some more on a large sedenza 21. I'd like to know what alternitave are out there as well as which of the two mentioned knives would you recomend. Any help is greatly appreciated!

If you can take advantage of a $385 Hinderer I highly recommend it. You can always pick up a Sebenza at a later date, and if you decide you don't like the Hinderer you can sell it to me for $395.

Yeah, if you can actually get your hands on a Hinderer at $385 get that. You can always sell it to fund other purchaeses

There is a lot of choices in that price range. Here's 3 that have good reviews.
-Three Sisters Forge
-Olamic Cutlery
-Custom Knife Factory
There are plenty of mid techs and customs to choose from out there. Just gotta look.

You can never go wrong with a CRK or Hinderer though, just don't forget that they aren't the end-all-be-all.

It's of course completely dependent upon your taste and style as the two examples that you gave are very different knives.

From a monetary point of view I'd say get the Hindy and flip it for a quick buck that'll take almost half the price out of the CRK that I'd recommend.
I've had both, they're both nice for very different reasons. I quickly sold my XM and have had no desire to get another one. Although I've bought and sold a lot of CRK's it's what stays in my pocket, I can't imagine actually finding a knife that I like better even though I scour the forums daily in search of it. If you're more of an XM kind of guy take a look at the Seb 25 or the Umnumzaan since they're built like tanks. Please don't let the rhetoric fool you, the Sebenza 21 is not a gentleman's knife that won't hold up to serious use, it's the epitome maybe even the epoch of what a no frills hard use folder that isn't a sharpened pry bar should be; sublime perfection in its most perfectly perfect form.

Too many perfects, yeah, sorry. I get that way sometimes.

Go ahead and get the Hinderer, you won't regret it. Remember, no one knife is perfect, it just has to be perfect for you.

So at this price the hinderer could be considered an investment if it turns out I don't like it? Sorry, stupid question but I never considered knives an investment

Yes. I don't like buying knives as investments myself, but I feel like if I had an inside line on a Hinderer XM for under $400 I'd kinda have to get it. If it totally blows you away, then great, but if you don't love it then you can flip it. Just look up Hinderers online to see what they sell for.
