I have had a small sebenza on my mind for a few years now. Have never got the chance to actually see on in person. I'm hesitant to buy such an expensive knife over the internet, expecially ebay for fear of getting a fake.

Anybody know of a shop in the Oly - Tacoma area that I could walk in and leave with one should I be so inclined?

If I were to buy a used one off of the forums, how can I minimize the risk of getting ripped off? 400-600$ isn't going to break me.... but it isn't chump change either.

Thanks for any help.

There is a list of dealers on the CRK website in the contact section. I think chances are fairly slim you would find a fake on the BF sales, somebody would spot it fairly quickly. You might be better off staying away from Ebay . For a plain small you probably could find better prices here anyway.

It's very unlikely you'll get a fake off here, actually other than from an authorized dealer or from a personal friend off the exchange here is probably one of your best bets.

Rainier Arms in Auburn usually has some in stock. That's the closest I know to Oly. I have picked up a 25/Umnumzaan/Professional Soldier there. If you want to drive up to Seattle, Wade's in Bellevue had some the last time I was in there and Bladegallery (Epicurean Edge) has some too. I would say Rainier Arms has the ones you would expect a gun store to have, Wade's has about the same but with some Mnandis. Bladegallery has the whole spectrum from plain janes to unique graphic and fancy inlays. Bladegallery and Rainier have their stuff on their websites so whatever they have there is in the store for you to fondle.

Thanks for the advice. I was on here a few years ago and there was someone who was taking a beating for swapping scales on a CRK in the classifieds. Was ready to pull the trigger then and got scared away after reading that thread. I'm not opposed to a used knife... I'm just leery and don't want to get burned trying to save 50$.

Summer car needs to stretch its legs. I'll look up bladegallery and go take a peek.

I'm pretty sure I want a small sebenza, not sure about inlays, .... Anything I should avoid?

Depending on the size of your hands, and your application, you may want to stay away from wood etc. For example a small only works for me with inlays, I'm up in Vancouver BC so it rains; thus one of my users is a Micarta inlay. In gloves I wear a M/L or about 10 in most manufacturers, sometimes 9. I find a small, quite dainty. Also, the tip of the blade is very thin, so stabbing it into things like wood will give you a very sharp burr on the top edge of the tip. It's not a very hard use knife IME.

You will find the hand determines which knife fits you best. I hated my zaan, tons of people love them, the 25 that gives some people hot spots from the clip fits in my hand perfectly and the clip is not a hot spot at all. So for me what some people find intolerable is my perfect knife. You are likely to have the same experience.

There are authorized dealers on eBay that sell CRK. I bought my 25 from an authorized dealer there. It's the individual sellers you have to be careful with. Most of them have a return policy. Going through eBay and PayPal does give you some degree of protection. I've texted them and found their store name on the CRK dealer list.
Good luck

There is going to be a blade show in Seattle in mid April (can't remember dates) look on the Bladegallery web site the dates are there. A not likely you would find a fake on here. Best of luck from the East side of the state.

Well I didn't get the opportunity to go up and look at CRK's in person. I decided after a couple years of wanting one, and looking at how fast used one's go here, that I might as well just order one.

So I am happy to finally say I have one on it's way. I'll post a picture (although I doubt my photo skills are up to the standards I see here) once I get it in my hands.

Thanks for everyone's help.

sorry just saw this - for future reference Surplus Ammo often has CRK knives, south of Tacoma North of Ft Lewis on I5. & If you are ever in Bellevue Wade;s Guns has a bunch of CRKs, most brands really

Congrats on the new knife. Can't wait to see the pics. :)

For sure. It's a small unique opal from Travis at edged specialties. My photo skills are nothing compared to the art I see on this forum but I'll give it a shot

Well it has arrived and is all I hoped for and some. Here's a quick attempt at a photo from my phone.

And another of the Inlay
