Did CRK change the jimping on the Umnumzaan? I was browsing through the big EDC thread over in General and came across this post:

Yeah, there's a thread somewhere here from not too long ago about it.
 
As stated above, yes. I am sending my Umnum in for a reblade and asked about that style. The Sebbie style jimping is a lot more traction based than the blocky old style Umnum ones. Although I do love both. :D
 
The sebenza jimping is a little more functional, but it looks a little off on the umnumzaan, the old umnumzaan jimping goes better with the overall look i think.
 
Anyone got a good pic of the old style? Im pretty sure mine is the new style and i love it. Looks clean and classy bit you can still bite into it pretty good and get great traction.
 
Wow i really like the old jimping lol. Dunno how it feels but it looks cool.

Id also be interested in where to get different color o rings.
 
To me, the old jimping stands out more...matches the design on the scales also. Really don't like the sebby jimping on the umnum.
 
I prefer the looks of the old, same reasons as above. Looks right and is decent, but the traction really isn't super unless you have really mushy thumbs. I asked to have the old style put on my reblade but they said they were all gone. The Sebbie grip does not look right but is really grippy.
 
I prefer the old jimping as well, and mine offers plently of traction. And it also looks alot sharper than on the picture kreole posted.
 
I prefer the old as well thats what my Umnum has, but it wouldn't deter me from one if thats all I could get :thumbup:

I'm not a fan of it on the Umnumzaan either.

however, It looks great on the Sebenza . IMO the old style jimping goes better with the overall design of the knife.

Hope I never need reblade!
