I have a standing offer to buy this but would like some input as to how much this is worth. It is brand new in box with sheath and it is beautiful ! ! of 60 made. Not sure if I can afford it so any input would help. Sorry for the spelling, spelled KATHATHU!

If they made more than one size this is the smaller one as it is only about 5 inches long (blade)maybe a little more as I did not really measure it but I think the knife was small.Has a blood groove in the middle and sharpened on both sides. Seller said 1 of 60 made.

If I am not mistaken, there were a 5.5", 7.5", and the monster 9" blades made. If I remember correctly, the first ones were ground by Scott Cook when he still worked for CRK. Those were the 7.5" versions.

I used to have the 5.5" and the 7.5" versions. They both have impressive grinds and are built solid. They are really beautiful knives, but I sold both of them as I did not think that I would ever use or carry them.

They were made with the same specs as the current one piece line.:thumbup:

If you want it to collect, then depending on the price, it would be a good acquisition. If you want a user, you would be better choosing a different blade. Not that it would not be a great user, but it will be to collectible to use-IMHO!

There was a 4" model made in addition to the 3 sizes above.

Starting price would be at least $400 (IMO) and up, depending on the size.

Edit: I have seen the larger ones go for 6-7 hundred on egay if I am not mistaken...

in the pic below is a 4" - 5.5" - and two 7"s for ref. only the 9" is not present

9 inch Kathathu (25)
7.5 inch Kathathu (100)
5.5 inch Kathathu (66)
4 inch Kathathu (100)

KATHATHU - There were 50 x 9", 100 x 7.5", 66 5.5" and 100 4". I suppose we should have been consitent and made the same number in each size but ....... there you go!

Scott ground the 9 inch and the 5.5 inch - Chris ground the 7.5 inch and the 4 inch.

The entire knife reach 55-57 RC hardness, the hardness is very tenacious, and maintain a good degree of blade grinders.

I had a 4 inch model. They are pretty but I didn't feel that the grind was very effective to maintain a sharp edge. I would say that it the knife you are talking about is worth $500 (ballpark figure). I've seen them go for this value on ebay.

It is a 4 inch blade and that is what he wants for it $500.00. Just want to mention that I am not trying to sell this but need to know if the value is okay as I might get this for collecting.:D
