Which should I buy?! Debating between a Signature Series/Custom Microtech Socom Elite and a CRK/Wilson Combat Large Inkosi. Help me decide!

Both great knives, but would choose Inkosi. It is classic with some improvements (like ceramic ball on lock).

I don't have the inkosi, but I do have a 2018 socom elite. It's a very nice knife. Lots of blade and super smooth. If you like it and the inkosi (enough that you may buy both), might buy the socom first because when they are done with them it might be awhile before you can find it easily again.

Two pretty different knives. Socom is considerably bigger. And more "knifey." I guess what would make me say Inkosi though is I HATE that tip down, blade spine facing into the open part of the pocket carry - and the Socoms are tip down.

So Inkosi.

I think the Inkosi will be the better cutter, given the stock thickness and grinds. Not hating on thick blades that don't cut as well, I think they all have their place. Something to consider though!

Those are two very different knives. I personally prefer the Socom Elite, though I would get one with a more normal clip point or tanto grind.

The Inkosi will cut easier, if that's most important to your selection.

Thank you all for your input! I went ahead and pulled the trigger on this gem of a custom shop Marfione Socom Compound Ground w/ Stingray Inlays and two tone blade. I will get the WC Large Inkosi next to match my Wilson Combat EDC X9 :)

If what I have heard is true, that sharpening a Microtech knife voids the warranty, then that alone would stop me from every buying one. Knives are meant to be used and sharpened and are not just show pieces. I have never owned a Microtech so I can’t comment on their build quality but I have owned many CRK knives and I can comment on theirs. Their build quality is absolutely phenomenal. The tolerances that their knives are built with is unreal. Every single one that I have owned has had perfect centering and perfect blade action. Never had one with any kind of lock stick or any other issues. Combine all that with the fact that they can be send back to CRK at anytime for a spa treatment which includes, but not limited to, re-sharpening or re-placement of the blade, re-finishing of the handles, and re-placement of the pivot bushings. How can you go wrong with all that I ask?

Sharpening them improperly and causing damage voids warranty, just like with any other company. Just sharpening a Microtech doesn't void warranty. You can see this on the FAQ section of their site, or just trust me as I've sent them my sharpened knives before.

As for build quality, I found my Socom Elites to compare similarly to my umnumzaan, but YMMV.

Socom is a cool lightweight weight with a great action and pretty good build.

Crk is a literal work of art. A knife that you appreciate more the longer you own it, based on how it gets better with age.

Ok good deal. I thought I read somewhere or someone said that merely sharpening them voids the warranty. What you said makes much more sense.
