The warranty reads that way. If so, disappointing.

But at least refurbishment can be had for reasonable cost by anyone.

I do believe the birthday card has a factor in warranty. if the card included than you are the orginal owner.

I believe that the warranty is transferrable. It extends to any one that owns the knife.

Not according to what is listed on CRK's website.

This knife is guaranteed for life. It is designed for a
specific purpose. Should the knife fail after purchase by
original user, due to faulty workmanship or materials,
such defects will be made good free of cost. The right is
reserved to make good such defects either by repair or
replacement...

Curious that the warranty is shown as an image rather than text, even though it looks like text on the webpage.

Although the wording in the warranty description does not state the specific words "non-transferable", the words "original user" suggests that the warranty is not transferrable.

True. Unless you are asked for a sales receipt for proof of original purchase.

Has anyone here chime in that has had their CRK knife RMA'd for warranty servicing had to submit proof of purchase, or any other proof of ownership? Just the birthday card?

I sent a knife in I purchased here. stated such, and it was fixed for no cost.

I think you are obsessing a little.

I do not remember anyone complaining that Reeve Knives refused to repair a knife because they were not the original owner.

These forums are powerful... it would be hard to actually be treated wrongly without it not affecting CRK negatively... I imagine that 75% of their sales are a result of research here. Personally I feel like I'm in good hands with my sebenza.

I agree. I haven't heard of the sebenza till I started snooping around hear. Now I want one so bad! not only that but BF really learned me a lot about knives and a whole lot more!

They may put that in there to give them an out in case someone tries to abuse the system at some point.

I once bought a used knife that had been modded by Matt Cuchiarra (rolled edges on the handles, different bead blast finish on them as well) but it had some blade play. I explained the situation to CRK and they just said send it in. The put in some new washers and a new bushing for me and sent it right back no charge even though they knew for a fact that I wasn't the original owner because I told them so. I've always had great service from them.

I bought a new Mtn II, with a Shadow IV sheath from someone. The snap on the sheath did hold very well. Sent the sheath to CRK. They replaced it promptly. No questions asked.

I do have all the original docs. Except the sales receipt. However, that never came up in conversation.
