Well, I can see it working better for EDC if that is also your goal. After all, if you EDC a kitchen knife, people look at you funny, or run screaming for the most part.![]()
That would be cool. I'd like to get a good all arounder fixed blade EDC and I wanted the insignia blade shape. I don't want a strictly kitchen knife since I want to do home improvement and other things with it as well.
You got it. Will post a follow-up later tonite.
I haven't used mine for fine cutting tasks like tomatoes but have used it in the kitchen for chicken and potatoes and it was excellent. Not what it was designed for... if you want a kitchen knife check out the CRK Sikayo. But as an all around fixed blade small bushcraft knife I love it.
If you want an all around knife you are going to love the Nyala.
Input on the food prep using the Insingo Nyala-
My wife used the knife, not myself. Tonight was a salad night so there were various vegetables cut, sliced, or chopped. Some chicken breast meat was cubed, and some hard boiled eggs were sliced.
Overall the sharpness of the factory edge was readily noticed on tomatoes and carrots. It made easy work of the raw chicken and made clean slices of the egg. So as far as a slicer it had no issues with these simple examples. It also "chopped" some walnuts with ease. However, the short length of the blade presented some problems when cutting larger stuff like going across a romaine lettuce head.
So I think it will work for some basic food prep, but is certainly not a replacement for a chef's knife or a Sikayo, for example.
