Thanks to an understanding Wife I was able to get some time in the Deer woods to do a little hunting, this was my 29th year hunting, it's my favorite passtime and I look forward to it all year.
This year I hunted with a friend on his land and in the State Forest that it is adjacent to, it was a great trip and a fun experience. The snow fell almost all day every day that I was there, it was beautiful. I've always enjoyed hunting in the snow and have never minded the cold, I don't know if its nature or nurture but I know that I received my love of the snowy cold deer woods from my Father- He would've loved the hunt this year, which makes it bitter sweet as we lost him to cancer just a few months ago at 66 years of age. I know that he was there with me in spirit and that if my children are interested in hunting when they're old enough I'll pass on to them what I learned from him; in this way he'll live forever, where he loved being the most- the deer woods.
One thing he would've really appreciated this year was the stellar performance of the Nyala when it was put into service to field dress a nice Spike that my friend shot on our last night hunting, this was my first unsuccessful season in over a decade-DOH!
I had my phone with me and was able to snap a few pics for all of you fellow CRK nuts, some are a little graphic, especially if you are squeamish, but if you eat meat and understand that this has to happen somewhere for you to eat then you shouldn't mind.
Heres a couple of the beautiful scenery I was fortunate enough to see.
Drive in.

Sunset

Snowflake that landed on my arm

Snowballs that accumulated in the Jack Pine needles

Now onto the deer and Nyala
The spike, he named it Larry

The knife after being used to field dress Larry

Gutted Larry with the Nyala and an RMJ Jenny Wren( after we took Larry outback to the wood pile )

Another image of the Nyala after it'd performed like a butchers blade, it split the rib cage like a light saber

It was a great hunt this year and I'm hoping that my last morning hunting this season, tomorrow, will be more successful. Either way, it doesn't matter as long as I'm out there doing it.
Thank you all for taking the time to read my post, HAPPY THANKSGIVING.
PS, Blackend- put your vacation time in for next year, we'll stay in Mi. And can hunt in Capac, at Makowski's, or at your place. Anywhere you wanna go Brother, Makowski is in.
