Anyone who has a CRK one piece knows that they come with a very well made leather sheath. I was looking for something to attach my Mountaineer II to a maxpedition versipack. Decided to go with the Spec Ops ACU short sheath. Unfortunately when I received it I found out it really doesn't work well with this knife. It rattles and when turned upside down it slides out even with the keeper tightly secured.
My first thought was to remove the kydex insert and heat it to form fit the blade. This stopped the rattle but did little to help keep the blade in the sheath. So I ended up making a leather insert to replace the kydex. Not the best one I ever made but will be inside the sheath, so it's all good. I also attached a small leather square to the back of the keeper. This helped with two things. It stopped the metal on metal contact and really grips the textured handle. The sheath now fits the knife like a glove. With the blade in the sheath you can't see the mod. Thanks for looking, Scott
