I've been a member here about a year and have enjoyed all of it and learned a great deal from everyone here. Predictably enough after looking around at BF I ordered a Sebenza: a small 21, double lugs with an engraving, through CRK. All riiight!

Placed the order Sept 4 and a nice woman told me six weeks. Called when that time elapsed to inquire and they said: "they're working on your knife, give it another 4 weeks". 4 weeks came and I left a message. They said it would be another 4 weeks, and that they were "working on my knife". I got the call that it would be shipped on the 22nd. So--ordered Sept 4th, shipped Dec 22nd. Is this typical? My order had modifications, of course, but is this the type of schedule I should expect if I send the sebenza back for maintenance? How long does maintenance take on "YOUR KNIFE"?

What kind of turn-around have you experienced for maintenance? Thanks for your responses. Happy holiday!

My 21 had a lock problem and it came back in about a week.

I'm glad that it finally shipped! I've had no experience with CRK's customer service, but you certainly won't be disappointed with the knife itself.

Wow, that is a long wait...

I sent in a few knives for maintainence/mods to CRK. For my stuff, it usually took them 1-4 weeks to get them back to me. The one time it took 4 weeks was when they were in the middle of their move. I have always found Heather at CRK to be very polite and helpful over the phone and via email.

I think as a society we have become complacent with poor service and broken promises. I see this a lot in every industry.

I think that was much too long a wait. I hate it when that happens almost as much as talking to machines on the phone. I'm sure you will love your Sebenza. It a good choice.
Best of luck and hope you never need service.

Swedgie,

Those delays were atypical. CRK moved to a new facility in the month of August. It was a huge undertaking, right when the Umnumzaan was ramping production as well. September and October were exceedingy challenging for the CRK staff while they settling in, building new fixtures, furniture, making building modifications, dealing with code issues, etc. This is certainly not an excuse for the delays, but hopefully explains what they were up against. CRK customer service has a well earned reputation of being 2nd to none, and you will experience that if you ever send your Sebenza in for service.

Delay does seem excessive and with an explanation. However, I guess in this age of instant gratification we should expect everyone to have an express lane or drive through window. Heck, I just bought a Nuvi because it is easier than the old analog road map..

Merry Christmas, and if that offends you....get over it!
