Ive been looking around for a seb, but have found that you can not buy them new for any less than retail. i was wondering way this is. its kinda a stupid question but its been bugging me. thanks for the help.
The BladeForums.com 2024 Traditional Knife is ready to order! See this thread for details:
https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/bladeforums-2024-traditional-knife.2003187/
Price is $300 $250 ea (shipped within CONUS). If you live outside the US, I will contact you after your order for extra shipping charges.
Order here: https://www.bladeforums.com/help/2024-traditional/ - Order as many as you like, we have plenty.
i understand where the price comes from, its just with other knives you can shop around, it seems like it doesnt matter where you get a new seb from just anywhere withone in stock.Nothing stupid about it at all. You want a high quality knife with top of the line materials, finish, fit, and attention to just about every detail made in the USA, you have to open your wallet. You do get your money's worth.
Flip side of this coin is, it prevents the one dealer from seeing everybody else out of stock, and jacking up the price of the ones they have in stock
I got a huge discount on a new CRK from a dealer once.
He had terminated his dealership so he wasn't bound by dealer pricing agreements and wanted to liquidate his remaining inventory. Short of that sort of freak accident, CRK knives go for MSRP...although if you look a little, you can find one or two dealers who sell above MSRP...

Sometimes you can get a little "hidden" discount from the dealer by getting free shipping. Other than that, CRK dealers who get wholesale pricing are required by their agreement to charge the MSRP.
Edit...Here's something kind of fun. I found this the other day while snooping around the internet for CRK knives. It's a price list from around 2000(ish).
