CRK Sebbie durability question

Hey fellow knife enthusiasts. I am new to the Chris Reeve knives world and had a few questions regarding the Sebenza line of knives. After buying a new lefty 21, I got bit by the bug and bought a used small 21 and a used large 25 from the exchange. I have read a decent amount of reports of people having blade play due to lock bar issues and what not. I am planning to use these knives and don't want to worry about them holding up. I don't flick open 400 dollar plus knives but I am sure they will be opened and closed thousands of times in their life. Does this natural wear cause such lock and blade play issues? Will CRK fix these problems if so? I guess the complaint was that CRK said that abuse caused the issues and that there was no guaranteed fix. In essence, how rugged are these knives to normal work? I do not mean prying and such that should be saved for fixed blades. Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

1. they are made to be worked
2. I don't know where you heard of all these blade play issues. I have never had any and have heard mention of very few. Some people look to find it-the lockbar is ti , so you could force some if you tried hard enough.
3. They will repair your knife if it's problems develop from normal use. The exception are discontinued models where they don't have the parts. Their warrantee is top notch and so is their customer service,
Use and enjoy your knives with no worries

I wondered if some people were forcing the lock to flex some. That makes sense. Thanks

In nearly 20 years I have never had a CRK folder develop any kind of side to side play, rock lock, or any other issue. I have a Large Classic MM Sebenza that I've owned forever. The RIL hasn't moved at all in all the carry, use, clean, repeat adventures I've had. I'm not saying it isn't possible. But, I've been a knife collector and user since I was 7 or 8 years old. I really think that "like ripples in a pond", all it takes is one person to blast one interaction with CRK over the WWW and suddenly my cousin Tony's little nephew said. ..CRK is for $**#. And there goes the rumor mill. I have owned at least 20 different versions myself. I now own 8 folders: Large Classic, Small Plain 21, Large plain 21, two 25s and two Small Inkosis. No issues whatsoever. But, I'm glad you brought it here. I think we're all fans just by virtue of being members of the

I'd agree with Peter, I've never read about any issues about blade play. There was a thread not too long ago about minor lock rock.
When the Umnumzaan was first introduced, it did not come with a over travel stop and folks were moving the lock bar too much, which prompted CRK to install over travel stops. I don't think they ever had any issues with any other models other than the Umnumzaan. But, that issue did not create blade play issues. Of the CRK's I've got, blade play has never been an issue.
CRK's were not designed to be flicked open, over time the knife will have issues if you continue to flick it open with force.
Over the life of a knife, I'd imagine it will be opened/closed thousands of times, not to worry, their built to withstand the use.

Besides, CRK, from what I understand makes the left handed knives a little more durable because they know how backwards us lefty's can be.

Ajack60, I agree that the flicking open will cause damage but I think that is true for any knife. It's simple physics. Know what I mean?

It all depends upon the design and materials; for example, flippers are made to be flicked open. The TiLock can be flicked open with ease.

Just for your information there is. Itching wrong with flicking open a CRK I've been doing it for years with no issues as do many others. What IS frowned upon is using your wrist to slam it open, as it will eventually need a stop pin or something like that. Don't worry about it just don't use your arm to flick it open like I see some people do that know nothing about knives. Flicking open with your fingers is totally fine and you should never have issues.

I appreciate the info. I am enjoying the absolute beauty of these finely crafted tools. Even just opening and closing the knife makes me appreciate the quality

I have had a bunch of CRK. The two I have now are from 2000 a small reg. and 1997 large regular. I am a user and they have served me so well. I used them for so many things. I always amazed when I clean them and put them back together they are perfectly centered. Never a blade wiggle in any direction. Have no worries use them and enjoy them.
