Thinking about purchasing a sebbie, and would like some thoughts from existing owners on the below - I don't really have a local dealer where I could fondle one:

1. larger vs. small - I can say this is depends on use - I'd like to use as an EDC so small would be the way to go
2. classic vs. regular - is there a specific function for each or just preference?
3. thoughts on serrations? good/bad? it seems the few I've seen are quite different from other serrations

Any/all comments welcomed - thx, infi&beyond

1. I own a large. I have heard people say that the small was too small for their hands, but you know all your EDC needs, so I will leave that up to you. Personal preference, and based on usage.

2. Classic vs. Regular is again really personal preference. Slightly different blade shapes and handles.

3. I think serrations are good on a large Sebenza, however I think that they are pointless on the small. On the large you have a good balance between plain edge and serrated edge, but on the small you are left with very little amounts of each (i.e. Delica combo edge).

1. for EDC I prefer Small Sebbie, Large is too havy for EDC, different between blade lenght isn't large, you dont see it in EDC use. But if you prefer more utylity knife, then buy Large.

2. Large Regular is more comfortable in many grip, in small models - classic is more pretty :)

3. When knife is sharp, you dont need serrations. I prefer without.

I have a large regular, and a small classic Sebbie. I EDC the small Sebbie.

I EDC a large LE. For me the large blade is more versitile than the small. I carry a leatherman mica for the small cutting jobs. At forst I thought that the large was too big but after carying the large for a while I find it's a non issue about its size. A major consideration would be if blade length will be a legal issue.;)

For me, the small is too small. Go large.

Classic vs. Regular has been the hardest decision to make when selecting Sebbies. . . .for moi. I do like the looks of the Classic more than the Regular. To alleviate the mental stress of trying to decide. . . .I EDC both styles. :D

I don't care for serrations. They are a pain to resharpen and I've found that most of my cutting chores don't require serrations. As stated already, if the knife is sharp - - serrations aren't necessary.

. . . is my choice for EDC. The small doesn't fit my hand as well as the large, and I prefer the sculpting of the regular. Having said that, I obviously like both the regular and the classic, since I have about the same number of each of them . . .

Here's my EDC:

That is a freaking beautiful design!!! I love that more then any other decorated Seb I've ever seen.

Hey Fooj,

is it possible that I know your edc from a certain DVD? :)

Nice collection!

Fortunately for me, I never pursued a career in acting . . .

Not sure if this will help...for size comparison

Top to bottom :
1. '95 Lg Sebenza
2. Small Unique Night Sky Seb
3. Small Micarta Seb
4. Mnandi

I carry a large classic around the farm, and a small classic or Mnandi when at work. The small is definitely the best bet for EDC duty around non-knife people.

IMO, it’s just a question of personal preference, and I like classics with inlay. To be specific, I like classics with micarta inlay. A lot of my fixed blades are Busses and Swamp Rats, and the classic with micarta inlay has the same kind of over engineered and indestructible feel to it.

3. thoughts on serrations? good/bad? it seems the few I've seen are quite different from other serrations

I’m yet to be convinced that there is any good reason to have an EDC knife with serrations, but CRK serrations work well.

Well - I was gonna go for the small regular, but a small sebenza (LE, african blackwood inlays, s30v polished blade) popped up on the exchange (from xaman - great to deal with), and I'm all grins!!!

Guess I'll have to get the small regular, as well as a few large ones for comparison.

A large Sebenza will seem small if you've been carrying a Buck 110, which I think is, like the Sebenza, a great knife.

I have a couple of CRK folders but prefer the large regular plain edge for EDC. It's been my favorite knife since purchase. Good luck.

Very nice. Enjoy!

can't really go wrong with either small or large, classic or regular. i have a large and small classic and love both. i don't find the large to be too heavy for edc, as it is also very slim. although the small blade is not much smaller, the knife overall feels much smaller.
i carry the small when in dress pants or the like.
