CRK Sebenza Sheaths

So I'm pondering picking up a Large Insingo. This is my way of saying I'm gonna get one, it's just a matter of time :) I was looking at sheath options as I do like to belt carry quite a bit. I've had several CRK one piece knives and really liked the quality of the leather sheaths. I think I'd like to pick up a GFeller Sebenza sheath, however I do not like the double snaps. I have no intention whatsoever of ever carrying a small CRK folder in this sheath. I understand from a manufacturing standpoint how great this design is as far as inventory and such goes but from a user point of view it's not for me. I guess my question is this - Can I special order a sheath with only one snap for the Large model either from CRK or Gfeller directly? I've done some prolific googling but have come up with nothing. Anybody asked? Did you get one or were you shot down?

Thanks,

Greg

I had this one custom made for my large Sebenza by JRE Industries.

I've looked at tons of third party options. Lifter's is nice, a page or two back is a stellar looking JRE who I've used for a couple Koster's. I was just wondering if I could get a CRK branded sheath with only the one snap to fit a Large model.

I appreciate the response though.

*edited* There is that sweet JRE

if you can find someone that would sell you a older crk sheath, the sheath only came with one snap

Here's my own take of the CRK pouch done in vegetable tanned leather, sorry about the dye job.

Nice didn't know they used to make one just for the Large. I finally found a place online that said they had them in stock. I ordered one in Black so we'll see how it goes. I've been burned before on online purchases that were "in stock" so my hopes aren't up yet.

Now I just have to get a Large Insingo to go into the sheath

Thanks for the help.

I received an email from the owner of the store I purchased the sheath from. Seems like a nice guy and said he did have them in stock and would ship it out tomorrow. I told him I've been looking for them for a while now and he said CRK stopped making them about ten years ago. I'll post some pics of it when it comes in. Should work out well as I got shipping notification for my Large Insingo today as well. Off work, hanging out with my sons, and I find out both packages I've been coveting for a while will be en route - yep pretty good day.

Just an update. I got my single snap Large Sebenza Sheath in today. Very nice work but there is no maker's stamp on it. Does anybody know who made the sheaths for CRK back then? The dealer said they quit making these 10 years ago but there was a blade 2003-2004 sticker on the bag it came in so it must be more recent than that or it just got shipped in a newer plastic bag.

Thanks,
Greg.

Gfeller made those as well as the sheathes for the OPR, the Nyala and the new style Sebenza sheath. My old style sheathes have the mark on the back running vertically up the belt loop. I think they switched styles 5 or 6 years ago.

I recently ordered a horizontal sheath for my Umnumzaan from Vess Leatherworks; it is very nice. Well made, good leather, snug- confidence building fit, and very comfortable to wear. I plan on ordering a second one for my Sebenza maybe in brown or if I get another black one, it will have pattern on the sheath just to make sure I don't get them mixed up.

I tried to use the CR sheath but I like to carry horizontal and the CR sheath just does not fit any of my play/ work belts, it does fit my dress belts but I don't wear them often. After wearing the Ves sheath, the CR sheath is way to thick for me now even though the CR sheath is very well made.

I use either a Lifter's leather pancake belt sheath, or the old style GFeller sheath with one snap. I am lucky I own two :D

I have a Gravitas horizontal sheath for my large Sebenza Insingo and I really like it. It is a very well made sheath and retains the knife very well. It is a great sheath for a great knife.

i wish the old nylon snap was still in production. I saw a sheath Gary Gradley(forum member) made, but sadly he said he no longer takes orders, and i tried asking around to have the same one made, but sadly -no one- replied, and another person didn't want to copy the work.

Gary had directed me to Vess, but i sent 2-3 emails and never got a reply back. I really love gary's design.
