CRK Sebenza vs Strider SnG for EDC?

Hey guys, I'm asking an age old question here. Looking for a high quality EDC knife that I can carry for a lifetime. When it comes to the CRK Sebenza, not sure if I'd want the large or small. I like the CRK because it is very refined, and well looking. I've heard nothing but great things about their customer service. I also here they demonstrate the best craftsmanship, blades are centered and perfect lock up. Seems like the perfect gentleman's knife.

Then, on the other hand I also want a Strider SnG. This looks like a knife I could truly beat on and not worry a bit. Looks very aggressive, and I've read its got great ergo's. Only worries are about the craftsmanship. I read that a lot of them tend to have blade play, and off center blades. For $400, I don't see why this would happen. I also here Strider's customer service is subpar.

Either way I'd try and find a gently used knife to eat up some of the cost. If any of you guys have had both knives, I'd love to hear your input. Just looking to here everyone's thoughts. Thanks!
 
If you want to get what you pay for, get the Sebenza. I've owned both, and unless Strider has made vast improvements to their quality, there is simple no comparison.
 
whichever way you go... one or the other. until you own both, youll only go crazy asking yourself this question over and over haha. i say jump on the one you find the best deal on first and start saving up for the other. both are great knives.

crk imo has better overall fit and finish & the ones ive received were sharp(er) out of box. striders however do have the tactical badass use me abuse me look to them that crk's just dont have.... you really gotta own both :)
 
I have an Umnumzaan and a DGG SnG.
They both fight for pocket time about equally.
Although the ZT 0550 has been kicking them out alot lately.:)

Try them in person if at all possible. The ergonomics are entirely different.
 
Age old questions are already answered in the dozens of age old threads. ;)

I like my Sebenzas personally. Only have 1 SnG, and it never gets carried. Try searching for Strider vs SnG, you'll find a ton of discussions.
 
Seems like strider has better quality lately. With their new lock up interface seems like the problem with blade wobble has all but disappeared. I'm extremely happy with my new SnG and I've owned a few sebenzas and umnumzaans.

How does the ZT compare to them? Thought about picking up a 550 also.

Is there anywhere else good to look for used CRK's or Striders? Whenever I see CRK's pop up on here, they are never plain.
 
Seems you've already made up your mind. I've had and carried both. I still have my Strider (s). The SnG CC is closer to the Seb as far as carry and cuts equally the same since I have the 3/4 grind. Both are great, just different tastes.

Very solid lock-up on the ZT, and less pocket-shredding than the Strider.
of the 3, it feels best in my hand for exteded use. The Umnumzaan is slimmest in the pocket, and I like the opening of the STrider the best.
Best "bang-for-the-buck" award goes to the ZT 0550 hands down...and if you get bored, it easy to find different scales for it.:)
The Umnumzaan has the quiet opening which is nice; it's a tough call for sure.
 
I've had both and the strider is more rough and ready but the Seb pockets better. The Spyderco sage 2 is like the lovechild of the two knives and the best bang for the buck; does everything you want and nothing you don't.

Get both!

What's the difference in the CC model? Is it just slimmer?
 
The way I solved the debate is I carry a SMF for work time and when I get home or on weekends/days off its a plain old sebenza 21 with the duel studs. I bought a new SMF Lego in s35VN stonewashed back in April and I put it to test every day in my construction job. It has zero play in any direction and the finish on the blade it damn near like the day I got it, and i got to say its some of the best stone-washing on a blade that I've seen. I'm looking forward to picking up a SNG DGG or a SNG CC for my off days EDC.
 
Yes, slimmer with the edges slightly radiused and smoother in and out of the pocket.

Does the DPX Hest 2.0 even compare to the 550?

And I know it looks like I've made up my mind, but I actually like the look of the strider better, but I feel like you actually get your money's worth with the Sebenza.
 
The fit and finish really is quite good on the newer Striders. Just pick one and if you don't like it sell or trade it on here. No biggie.
