I was thinking of buying a lg Sebenza 21 with carbon fiber scale.

My question is, how well does the carbon fiber scale hold up? I plan on EDCing this knife along with my 25.

Thanks Stormawy, it probably wont get used too hard, just everyday carry (keys rubbing against scale, .etc.)

Carbon fiber in it's many forms is pretty tough stuff, I don't see you having any problems with it. It has been used as a knife handle material for a long time, If there were issues they would be clear to us by now. :)

I have the small and large insingo in carbon fiber. The cf holds up really well! It does scratch, but so does the Ti. It honestly is more scratch resistant then the bead blasted Ti. I assume you're talking about getting the knifeart version. It has a matte finish and I think it has a really good look!

Just ordered a large knifeart version 21

I just had to ask, thank you :)

For the end user CF is great stuff, it looks good, it's light, strong, tough, largly isn't bothered by heat or chemicals and is usually easy to get hold of. It's the people that have to work with it that generally don't like it much. I know I hate the stuff..... untill it's on my knives. :p

So, I've been carrying a small CF 21 every day for a few months now, and it's durable in the sense that it's not going to get gaping holes in it, or break/tear, but it does wear pretty noticeably. It actually takes on snail trails just like the blasted Ti, except they aren't bright and scratchy, more like dull...well...snail trails! I'll be uploading some pics for you shortly. Congrats on the awesome purchase btw, you're going to love it!

This should give you an idea of how the CF wears in. Bear in mind, I carry mine loose in pocket, no clip; it might not wear as much or as fast if it's clipped.

The wear really only shows at certain angles, aside from the dents.

Thats a nice Sebenza, doesnt look that bad really, I dont mind the worn in look.

It was between the CF Sebenza or a Starbenza, but I thought the CF has a classier look to it.

It's a knife, it's going to wear and tear no matter what, if you use it. Thanks, I like it too.

Great pictures - thanks for sharing.
The black blade and the black scale... got to love that.

That's absolutely one of the nicest looking Sebenza 's I've ever seen, thanks for sharing.

Thank you and it was my pleasure. I value this knife above all my other worldly possessions :) She takes on more love marks every day.

I find it hard to argue with that, the ladder goes really well with carbonfiber and micarta.

I couldn't agree more !
And I also find the way that the CF has worn and the etching of the Damascus subdued with use to be very appealing.
I use my CRK's but I've never been able to " hard use and everyday " a Damascus yet. Although I enjoy the well worn/used/slightly abused look of all of my umnum's and plain jane's I just seem to baby the Damascus; it's still more of a special occasion knife for me.

After some other pics were posted I searched for this exact knife in a Large and he only had basket weave left. I may be stalking the site now a bit more regularly to pick one up and turn that corner with the Damascus.

You're a bad influence :)

Agreed. As an aside, I quite enjoy reading your posts on here Haze. You have a wealth of knowledge and are a gentleman, which makes for some interesting comments and additions to the this Sub's threads.

You said blade wear. Ask and you shall receive! I cannot recommend "every day carrying" a DT blade any more than I already have. No regrets!

It wears very well, I think. There isn't a thing I'm afraid to cut with it honestly. Worse cast scenario, I roll the edge, and the stones+oil come out to whet up the blade.
