I want to purchase a sebenza for EDC. I'd like some people's opinions on what their preferances are, small vs. large and classic vs. regular. Also, what about the 21 model, is that any different than the classic.
Thanks everyone

I love the sebenzas. I have 5 and ALL are regulars. I have 3 large regular and 2 small regulars. I am sure someday I will have the classic/21 style. IMHO, I like the blade profile on the regular verses the 21 style. Its more of a drop point where as the 21 is more pointy. Both will do what you need it to do, so that part of it just comes down to what blade shape you like. I like the large opening around the thumb stud on the classic style, it looks like it would be much easier to open. But I like the grooves on that are on the regular as it gives you a better grip. From what I have read, the only difference between the classic and the 21 is the 21 is more beveled on the edges to slide in your pocket better.
As for large or small, thats the great debate. I love the large regular, but when I pull it out to use, people notice. Its not overly large by any means. I thought it was actually smaller than I had imagined. When I pull the small out, no one notices. I use and carry a small regular vines sebenza for edc, but I would prefer to carry the large. I bought a large regular for edc and am shipping it off monday to CRK to have it custom engraved. ( I will post pics when I get it back ). I have no complaints with my small vines edc sebbie, it does everything I ask of it. So IMHO, The difference between the regular or classic is just basically what appeals to you. In the end, you will never go wrong with either one. Both are knives of the Highest Quality and are Extremely Durable. Plus, you have the best Customer Service in the industry and a lifetime guarantee.

I agree with Nyefmaker.

Some additional thoughts....
I have a small. I had a large.
I will get another large someday or maybe an umnumzaan. Because some days I want a bigger knife. I don't know why, I just do :D I can't say I truly NEED more than the small.

I have a theory that if you want to carry a large. Get a fancy one. That way if you are around some non knife people, the beauty can help them to understand why you are carrying a knife like that.

I like that one...........Do you think the wife will buy it....??:D

I went through a similar scenario well over a year ago.

I went with a small, classic model with no inlays or graphics.

My reasoning was 1) the small was more appropriate for EDC in an office environment; 2) I found the classic to be easier to open and manipulate and 3) I thought the classic blade shape was better suited to a small model.

PLUS, I figured it was only a matter of time before I got the large too! My intention was that I would eventually get the a large, regular version, likely with the Mircata inlays. The regular blade shape seems better suited for a larger knife.

I haven't been on knife sites or in knife stores for over a year (honest!). Now I see the regular has been discontinued. Oh well. I guess when the times I'll get a used one or go for the new Umnum.

Thanks everyone for your input. I purchased a used small 21 the other day. I'm eagerly awaiting its delivery. This one is plain, but I'm thinking about picking up either a new small with web-sight design or a NICA tanto. I'll just have to wait until the small arrives to make the decision. Thanks again.

I have large and small micartas, but traded into well used small reg and small classic models. I have been carrying the small regular, and, while it is not needed, I would like to get a large regular or large classic.

While I was deciding what to get I went thru the same ordeal (large vs. small).
I finally went with the large. I have 2 Classics and One 21. All are great. Not much difference imo. Try and handle both sizes.

Excellent strategy. My large unique graphic regular Sebenza has done well in an office environment for this very reason.
