Will they service knives with millit clips and/or Jekyll 2 Hyde back spacers? I want to do a reblast. Someone claimed they would and that those brands are the rare exceptions to the “no aftermarket parts rule”, but I want to be sure before sending anything like that in 👍🏻

The website is pretty clear on this: “Remove and retain any third-party components such as non-CRK pocket clips or similar. CRK is not responsible for loss or damage to third-party components.” I’d play it safe and remove them before I sent the knife in. Of course you could always ask them.

I have sent CRK's in for the spa treatment with third party clips (lynch) and they did not blast the clips, but did blast their scales.

Ok good to know. Do you know about Millit clips? They were making companion clips for the Wilson Combat line for a while

Jekyll 2 Hyde back spacers are accepted, and specifically called out on CRK's site as an approved 3rd party component. This was approved about a year ago.

Can you link the page that specifies this? I don't see that asterisk on any of the service/warranty pages.

From the warranty page on their site:

AUTHORIZED THIRD-PARTY PRODUCT AGREEMENT

Specified product lines from Authorized Third-Party Manufacturers have been assessed and approved for use with Chris Reeve Knives products. Using these products with a CRK product will not void the Chris Reeve Knives warranty. By using components from Authorized Third-Party Manufacturers, the customer agrees to the following:

  • Third-party products are covered by the warranties provided by the original manufacturer and notby Chris Reeve Knives.
  • The customer assumes all liability for loss or damage caused by using third-party products with their Chris Reeve Knives product.
Authorized Third-Party Manufacturers

  • Umnumzaan Backspacers, all variations
  • Inkosi Backspacers, all variations
  • Sebenza Backspacers, Lanyard Deletes, all variations
  • Umnumzaan 4-Point Pivot Tool, all variations

Why is everyone so worried about calling them?

They have a service dept that deals with this all day long. Correct answers, fast.
I don’t know what gave the impression of being “so worried”. I figured it would be easy enough to get the question answered here, and if I don’t need to bother the service people then I won’t.

So while the use of a Jekyll to Hyde backspacer does not void your warranty, sounds like they would still prefer you to remove it when sending in a knife. Item number one on the "Send us your knife page" states:

Remove and retain any third-party components such as non-CRK pocket clips or similar. CRK is not responsible for loss or damage to third-party components.

They are very friendly and unhurried on the phone, and will even make notes on your order to make sure it's done they way you are hoping. Top notch outfit. I'd call them after you send it in, if they don't call first.
