CRK stone wash change again?

While looking at Wilson Combat’s Inkosi model, the photo makes it appear that they went back to their finer finish that was used previously.

It has a grayer, flatter finish that I prefer over the recent less-fine finish, that looks a little “sparkly.”

Have they changed back?

You probably got one from right before they changed the stonewashing media.

Could someone explain this and when the changes were made? I get the different media and what stonewashed is; when and why did CRK change their process? Moreover, did they go back a previous way of stonewashing their blades or something similar?

After you use the same stones for a while, they break down, causing a finer finish. So you replace the media, and the result is a bit coarser until that media starts breaking down.
