CRK&T Carson designed M16-04, I think i'll retire my AFCK and Military?

Damn, i must say, this knife is awesome, i just recieved this knife(M16-04 plain edge/tanto tip-large version w/flipper) and i must say, it is so high in quality, it passed my vigorous spine whack test-that my 3 SOCOM's failed, the fit and finish is superb, and for under $70, WOW.
The edge is very sharp, the grinds are almost perfect, the liner lock itself is thin-but then again the Military and AFCK's liners are thin to-i came to the realization that thickness don't mean squat. This knife is stronger than my AFCK's, and my Military, don't get me wrong, my military and afck's are great, but this M16 blows them away, i'm in so much praise of this knife. Good job Kit Carson, and CRK&T.

Honostly this will be my daily carry folder-for self defense and utility uses-the gaurd on it is superb.

Hey Frank, I got one coming also. I will let you all know what i think of mine. cant believe yor Socoms failed the spline test though. i have a DA Socom that is awesome and Carnivour I have is also basically bulletproof. But i have heard a lot of good thiongs about M-16-04 and its price is unbelievably low! Had to have one! what a addiction this all is.

I will admit that it is alot of knife for the money. I hope their version of the Kasper Fighting Folder is as good.

I've had the smaller spear-point version for about 8-9 months now, and I agree with your reviews exactly:

Fit-finish first class...at a very affordable price.

The best thing about them is I'm not afraid to use mine for fear it'll get messed up....it's rugged and actuually looks better with a few nicks, dings and blade discolorations!

I also find the smaller spearpoint easier for pocket carry and mine opens with a flick of the wrist easier than almost any other out of the box production knife in my collection!!

yeah!!
i cant wait to get mine, it's been a week since i ordered it, a long week!!
I'll be anxious to compare it to my cold steel x-larg tanto voyager. i hope it is as nice as yours frank.

I have to agree with the pack, the CRKT M-16 is a "Best Buy!" Great workmanship and materials. I got two for Eagle Scout gifts, looked them over before I gave them away. Wow! I gues I need to get the bigger one for me. Even thinking about a Carson version. I wonder if Kit does them in Talonite?

Is there a picture of the CRKT - Kasper folder somewhere on the web? and what is the CRKT web address?

The CRKT company probably offers the best
bang for your buck in quality folders, IMO.
But it's a shame they have to stamp their
knives "Taiwan". Although that doesn't deter
most of us forumites from purchasing a
knife (we make our own "quality" judgements),
most people outside the knife community
consider Taiwan products to be inferior, as
I did for quite a long time. As a result, I
have a very difficult time reselling CRKT
knives locally...but Smith & Wesson knives
(great quality, also - but cheaper) sell like
hot-cakes. Although their box reads "made in
America", I suspect they're made elsewhere.
Anyone know for sure?

I believe the S&W knives are made in Taiwan too.
People will eventually have to be educated to the fact Taiwan can produce quality knives. I remember back in the early '70s that Japan was considered a maker of cheapy junk goods. Now, of course, a great many if not most knife people will know that some of the best-made knives anywhere are made in Japan (and yes, there is some low-end junk too). Taiwan is basically the next "Japan" of knife-making.

Yes, the SW knives like swat knives are Taiwan made. They are marked ROC on back of clip. But in small letters. it is still true that many people are not impressed with Taiwan marked knives, even though the quality may be excellent (CR or SW as examples)
