Hmmm.. What do you guys think is better. Personally, i like the CRKT tanto's better, i own two CQC7's, one from Benchmade(970s) and the other is an Emerson CQC7-tanto tip black blade. The CRK&T M16 tanto-smaller version, is a great darn knife, the handle doesn't flex at all-the CQC7's do, the tanto on the CRKT's blade is stronger, the whole design is very tough....I don't know, give me your thoughts
PS..I have the big M16-tanto and honostly, I carry it more then my Microtechs, Benchmades, and customs, for some reason i trust it more-that handguard/flipper is amazing when using stabbing techniques-the best guard on a folder i've ever seen..

Frank,

You're comparing two very different products. The small CRKT is very much smaller than an Emerson, it uses a different blade steel and features either an aluminum or Zytel handle rather than G-10.

There is no doubt that the Emerson CQC7 is a generally better and more expensive tactical knife but it's fine that you like the CRKT. I think it's a super little knife for the money as are most CRKT products. Can't compare them, though, because they aren't comparable. Take care.

It's true that on a materials level you can't compare but, in my opinion that's where it stops. I like the overall size, feel and blade shape of the M16 than the CQC-7 series. I like the aluminum handles on the M16 better than the G-10, it feels solid and looks great. I own both styles of knives. I don't care for a chisle grind but I do like a v-ground tanto. I still like my Emerson Commander more than the M16 but I carry both. I ended up putting a V-grind on my Commander. I like the flipper but I love the wave. I would love to have an aluminum handeled Commander. Most people are going to like the bigger names more but if both styles were made by lets say, Benchmade, I think the M16 would get the nod. That is if you like a bigger knife. It's, in the end, all personal preference.
