I have two Sebenzas, one with one, one with two thumb studs. Cannot get used to either one! What’s the best stud replacement on a Sebenza?

That doesn’t answer the question i asked though

I think he means pushing forward toward where the knife's point will be once the blade locks into place, instead of letting your thumb follow the arc of the thumbstud. It's generally good advice for most thumbstuds, I think, but despite knowing this I never got comfortable and consistent with it, despite (probably not enough!) practice. I could make them open snappily for sure (thumb stud knives, not CRKs, though as I have never owned one), just not every time, nor anywhere near as consistently as a knife with an opening hole.

Sorry I wasn’t clear. I should’ve asked why you want to replace the thumb stud. If it’s discomfort in using them my suggestion above should help. Also make sure you aren’t putting pressure on the lock bar when trying to open the blade.

I don’t know if this is the case but if you are expecting a Sebenza to flick open or drop shut prepare to be disappointed.

Try using your nail on the opening push, "aim" at around 10.30 on the knife.
i know this is not what you asked for but it'll make the break-in easier for you and your thumb.

The thumb studs are press fit,so unless you have specialty tools, you’ll have to send it to a knife modder to get the stud changes. A benchmade stud may work though if you’re dead set on changing it.

Another way that I found very helpful when I still owned a Sebenza was to use both hands. The knife opened up very easily without any hassle.
