Hello folks,
I recently traded into a like-new condition CRK Ubejane Skinner. This particular unit does not come with box or papers so I am trying to ascertain an approximate age. Mr. Nyefmaker's timeline states that the Ubejane was made from 1990 - 2009 so there is quite a wide range of age it could be. With the Sebenzas we can use things like the Idaho Made stamp, grooved stop pin, and especially the date codes to get an age on it, but without date codes on the OPK's it makes it more difficult.
I have included some photos below and I am hoping for any and all input you can give me that might help narrow down the age.
Also, will you please share your insight on the possible usages of this particular blade style? Admittedly, I am not a fixed blade user so I am a little unfamiliar with this style of blade and what its intended purposes are. I am planning on using it as a camp/hiking/backpacking knife to be used for light wood processing, and other camp chores. Please give some insight as to what you store in the handle as well--I would love to hear your ideas!
I have heard or read somewhere that the coating used on the blade is not food safe--is this accurate?
Thanks for the input my friends!!
