CRK Umm vs the Wilson

I realize the aesthetic differences but where/who builds the actual knife?
Does CR build the knife then sends it to Wilson for the scales to be tweaked with the starburst? I went on Wilson's website and in "view other photos" it looks like two different knives one blade has one swoop the other has two unless its the angle of the camera.

Reeve makes them in house under an exclusive agreement with Wilson. Same service, same point of original, just a different design. I think that the blades are identical, only the handle slabs are different, but someone who owns both will have to comment.

According to the pics the blade has a sort of shark fin effect to the blade spine.
Knife Art version has one and Wilson has/had two. Except as I mentioned in the pics now on Wilson's site I see one (like the KnifeArt version)
I sent two emails requesting clarification. When?if I hear back I will update.
If anyone has info. much appreciated.
I like the knifes appearance much more than the Sebenza.

From previous posts I believe the knife is the same except for the pattern on the scales and the lanyard.

The photos on the website are deceiving.

The "shark fin" is standard on the Umnumzaan - I have a regular and it is on mine.

If you go back about a month in posts Jill Jackson posted pics of her new Star Tac Umnum and it also shows the swedge at the top of the blade.

Other than the Sebenza Insigno, I believe all iterations of the Sebenza and Umnumzaan are very similar to the stock ones.

Thank you. Big help (as usual) setting my sights on the next two knives being the Umm and an XM-18.
I might as well have picked a Unicorn and a one eyed bridge troll.:(

I think your chances of getting an Umnum - either stock or Wilson Combat version - are considerably better than the XM-18, unless you are willing to overpay for the XM-18.

Yes I agree, the Umnum is about a month or so out. The XM-18 will require careful timing. I refuse to let emotion carry me away into Ebay land and a bidding war on what is undoubtedly a great knife but as with most things not worthy of being rediculous over.
One guy who interestingly enough lives about 45 minutes from me is on "a website" asking $3200 for three(3) XM-18's . Wow

I got an XM-18 directly from Rick - and I sold it - it was a little too small for me.

He sells them for a very reasonable price - it's just impossible to get them from him direct due to the demand.

I am hoping for an XM-24 - and I see these going for over $1000 on the second hand market.

I can't bring myself to overpay that much.

I like the umnumzaan because I can carry it during the week in the calfskin pouch in the office - and it's tough enough to handle what I throw at it.

The XM-18 was a "night and weekend" knife.

I like the Umnum especially the Wilson version. Actually the recent Acies acquisition is what whetted my appetite for the style. I thoroughly enjoy the Acies. As with guns, many years of one leading to another has honed my likings for design and function. I am partial to Hk's and mostly title II stuff now.

The startac is real cool,& if you search around, you might get a good deal.,i got this one with the tool kit for 350.00 off the exchange!

I have an Acies and it is getting a lot of attention right now.

I really like the umnum - mine is usually tagging along in the CRK sheath in my FR pocket during the week.

Love my CRK folder collection... okay, it's only one - a Wilson Combat 'StarTac' 'zaan - and proper personal protection:

I see they are out of the small Sebbies now.

Stainz

PS I looked over new Striders and a Hinderer locally - my 9+ month old ZT-301 was similarly constructed - and at a fraction of the cost. It exuded a higher level of QC, too - after a lot of pocket carry. The 'zaan is, expectedly, another step up. I was not impressed with the Strider or Hinderer, but that was admittedly a small sampling.
