Has anyone hear had to send their Sebenza in for work?

If so, how long from the time that you sent it in, did it take for them to return it to you?

I'm afraid that I am going to have to send mine in....and I don't want to be away from it for more than a 7 day work week...i might throw a conniption fit.

I might end up curling up in a ball in a corner and just rock back and forth....

P.S....started a lockup thread before....and just have developed some verticle blade play.... =(

For you swmp4L, 8-10 weeks turnaround.
CRK makes examples out of lockbar thread troublemakers.

Just kidding. Assuming your washers/bushing is aligned
properly, the only way you're going to get vertical play
is because the lockbar and blade tang are not mating.

Why? You probably bent the lockbar out, and too much.
Take it apart, bend the lockbar inward a little, reassemble.

If you still can't live with it send it in.

I guess it would depend on the amount of work to be done. I did send mine in once for a tune up, resharpening, and screw replacement. It took about 2 weeks and it was back at my door.,,,vwb.

.

I did nothing of the sort, I wouldn't even dream of doing something like that.

But really, it was @ 80% before and now it's more like 85%. (further in, not out)

The blade play is very very very small...you have to grab the handle right by the pivot screw, and the blade right by the end, and then it moves maybe a fraction of a mm....but it shouldn't move at all, being a CRK knife.

:(

I read your threads swmp4L, strangest thing I've ever seen..
Something's not right. Very unusual for a new knife.

2 weeks turnaround seems about right.

I have an extra Lg. Seb. I can loan you if think the withdrawal
symptoms will be unbearable.. ;)

thatz a friend,but i'm doubting it.............

I sent mine in about a month ago, but there were complications - 1) SHOT Show in Vegas interrupted everything knife related for over a week, 2) they made a new blade to completely fix the issue (bless them), and 3) Double thumb lugs were added (since they had the knife anyway:D)

The knife is in route back now. No complaints. First class service and communication the whole time. The first week was the hardest for me, but remembering that it's in good hands helps.

They did a South African Mark IV for me that was a total refurbish including new sheath in 10 days total from the time I mailed till it was back in my hands
Sure wish I still had it, It was the 87 knife that Chris & Ann had made from the last part of 1985 when all the Rambo Shit was popular. Well I guess hind sight is 20-20. There Product & Service Is Second To None  :D:D:D

I've sent in 2 Sebenzas in the past and they took less than a week, though they quote a 10 day turnaround time.

Okay, explain this to me....just took it apart again...to inspect everything...

Washers were perfectly lined up on the bushing...
Bushing was perfectly set....
Everything checked out okay...

Put it back together....and bam.....55-60% lockup....

Tight as fort knocks again.....

WTF!!!!

Everything is still centered and smooth as butter....

Its almost as if it knew I was concerned and fixed itself....

P.S.

thanks for the offer to loan the sebbie out! I probably would have purchased it, i know this one won't be my last.

Sometimes a washer will slip slightly and ride over
the bushing during final assembly, that's probably what happened.

After a while you will be able to tell right away when this happens.
There will be a little more gap on one side or other.
Seems to happen more easily on the smalls than large.

Glad everything worked out.

edit, maybe it had a little more gap on the left side, but It came from the factory with a 75-80% lockup and centered blade no blade play.

I used it for 2 weeks or so and it worked over to a 85% lockup and developed some blade play....

took it apart for the 20th time and put it back together and somehow have a 55-60% lockup, same centered blade and no blade play...

you've taken it apart 20 times  seriously find something else to do with your spare time

Most of that was trying to find the best grease, and a few just because.

How can you not take it apart and put it back together a million times, it's so easy and quick. maybe 2 minutes to do it.

soon you'll wear out the screw heads or threads, or wear down the bushings from taking it apart. the best grease is the stuff that came in it (1 tube last a life time). and I would rather use it a million times than take it apart for no reason other than " it's easy "... I take mine apart once a year maybe twice at most, thats all it will ever need

:D

Now what's the fun in that...

to each their own. I love that it's user friendly and can easily be taken apart for cleaning. that being said the sole purpose of the sebenza is to work (you can't work when you're laid up on the table in pieces) :D enjoy your knife and it's new found lock-up!!!
