Guys and gals with a SM only. How do you sharpen your convex edge CRK's?

I use my extra fine SM stones with very little pressure on the blade. I try to keep my edges sharp and not need a touchup

very often.

I have a Ken Onion Work Sharp, but I only use it for kitchen paring knives. I don't have enough confidence to use 1 of my CRK's on my

KOWS! For those that don't know the KOWS uses various grits with a small belt to put on convex edge on a blade.

Comments from SM owners..............

I try to maintain with a strop, but when I do break out the SM, I stick with the 40 degree setting only. This allows me to only get the apex and not the convex portion of the bevel. It works well and will take a long time to actually reprofile.

I use my SM for all my CRK's. Works very well.

I always use the 40 degree. I go slow, light pressure and let the rods do the work. Using the flat sides 99% of the time, 20 complete L/R passes on the brown coarse tri-rods, 20 passes on the white fine tri-rods, and 20 passes on the white w/red tip ultra-fine tri-rods. Works like a dream for me every time. I can get them scary sharp with this process.

If the CRK is fairly sharp, I use just the fine and ultra-fine. If it's already very sharp, just the ultra-fine.
